Go for a jog or learn to kitesurf on this long, quiet beach, known for its strong winds and glinting waters.

Le Saline Beach is an ideal spot for travelers looking for a tranquil retreat away from Sardinia’s busier tourist beaches. It’s a popular place for locals to walk their dogs in the evening and the steady winds make it a favorite of kitesurfers.

With coarse, yellow sand and rocky waters off the shore, Le Saline may not be Sardinia’s most scenic beach. However, the half-moon shaped shoreline is perfect for evening strolls or jogs along the coast.

Keep an eye out for hermit crabs scuttling quickly along the sands. Build a sandcastle or enjoy a game of Frisbee or volleyball.

Bring a picnic to eat by the water or grab a drink at the beach bar and listen to the crash of waves against the shore. Go for a swim in the clean waters or spend an afternoon reading a book. In the evening, sit back and watch local fishers vying for the best catch.

Sign up for lessons at the kitesurfing school and enjoy an exhilarating perspective of the island as you fly over the water. The strong winds also make this beach a great destination for sailing, as well as for adventurous surfers and canoers eager to take on larger waves. You can also go scuba diving or snorkeling and see colorful fish swimming beneath the surface of the water.

Take a walk behind the beach, where you’ll find a pretty pond surrounded by marshlands. The pond is used to purify mussels farmed in the nearby salt wetlands of the Gulf of Olbia, making them safe for human consumption. You can also follow the small pathways branching off the route to the main beach, which lead to numerous small and secluded patches of sand.

Le Saline Beach can be reached by bus or car. There is a spacious free parking area located a short distance from the beach. From the parking area, follow the boardwalk over the lake to reach the coast.
