Morrison Cabin Offers The Finest Interiors, Unique History & Very Best Location

Historic Morrison Cabin is the oldest home in Lexington on its original foundation. It was built by John Morrison in 1787 when Kentucky was still a part of Virginia. It is ideally located in historic Gratz Park, across the street from Transylvania University.
Morrison Cabin has been meticulously restored, offering all modern amenities while maintaining its historical elegance and integrity. Guests will be just a few short blocks and within easy walking distance to the Lexington Convention Center, Opera House, Rupp Arena, and the best dining and nightlife Lexington has to offer. Free off street parking is available directly behind the cabin. The location offers convenient and easy access to Keeneland, the Kentucky Horse Park, The University of Kentucky, Commonwealth Stadium, Kentucky's famous horse farms and distilleries. Lexington is a hub with proximity to Cincinnati and Louisville and all things Derby.

Gorgeous, historic and wonderfully comfortable
This was a 5 star stay!! The cabin was beautifully furnished, spacious and very very convenient for all our Thanksgiving wants and needs. It was a beautifully restored historic property and the lovely antiques were an added delight! We would definitely stay there the next time we were in Lexington!

Location, location, location!
This historic home is in the best neighborhood in Lexington, right in the middle of other historic homes and walking distance to many great restaurants. It is nicely appointed, very clean, and very comfortable. The listing photos depict it very well. My family and I would stay here again.

Siblings Weekend
Great gathering spot for siblings arriving from Michigan, Tennessee and North Carolina. We enjoyed the charm of this historic home, prepared a couple of meals together and found ourselves close to town and the sights we wanted to see. Wonderful weekend!

Friends & Family Getaway
Loved the history and charming personality of the cabin! Our group of seven wanted a unique place to stay and the Morrison Cabin was ideal. In addition to all the modern amenities, the beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water and easy access to local restaurants and attractions. Communication with John was great, we highly recommend this gem!

Comfortable cabin in convenient location
Comfortable cabin in convenient location. Clean, well appointed, and walkable to Rupp and several restaurants. Only complaint was the street noise due to proximity to a fairly busy intersection. Stayed over a holiday weekend and heard several emergency vehicles throughout the night.

Charming, Comfortable, Clean, and Great Location!
My girlfriends and I loved staying in this cabin. It is both quaint and historical with comfortable, clean, and modern provisions. The neighborhood is adorable and it's a 5 minute walk to downtown. Honestly I do not have a single complaint, other than I wish we'd had a bit more time to spend in the cabin!

We stayed at Morrison Cabin for a family wedding. It was an absolutely perfect place for a gathering. Sparkling clean and comfy. The antiques are just gorgeous. This was our first time in Lexington, and Morrison Cabin was a perfect home base. We didn't need to rent a car. Easily walkable to wonderful restaurants and coffee shops.Instantly responsive host. Great place and incredible value
The house was very nice and clean. It was also exactly as represented. A great location and easy walking distance. The owners called to make sure I didn't need anything at all. I will be back for sure.

Perfect Christmas Stay in Historic Lexington
We brought our 3 children ages 4-9 to spend Christmas with their cousins in Lexington and loved the neighborhood and character of this restored cabin. Tasteful art and decor throughout this gem. Convenient to historical properties in Gratz Park, but also to the Henry Clay estate and within walking distance to Mary Todd Lincoln’s childhood home. There are several great local restaurants and bars nearby, within walking distance or a short drive away. Highly recommend!

Part of Lexington’s history
We stayed at the Morrison cabin for our daughter’s graduation from Transylvania. It was the perfect location for all the events on campus and for going out to eat and enjoying downtown. Once we parked the car we did not need it again until we left. The cabin comfortably accommodated our family of 6 adults. It was also beautifully decorated.

Bball weekend
We came to town to visit our son and attend a baseball game. We had a group of 9. There was ample free parking. It was a very easy walk to downtown and Rupp. We had the “house chef” cater a brunch for us and that was amazing!!! The kitchen is very small so would advise against trying to cook for a large group. Overall a fantastic experience! And a big win for the cats too!

Really beautifully unique historic home
We stayed at this house for 1 overnight to reconnect with friends and overall we were delighted. It was very clean, comfortable beds, etc. Unfortunately this property is on a major thoroughfare for emergency vehicles and as the house is old, and right up against the road, people sensitive to noise might want to carefully consider before booking. Bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. The location, otherwise, is very convenient to shops and cafes.

Great Location & a Beautiful Home
We stayed at this house for our son's wedding in December. It was a Great location to downtown Lexington. We were able to walk to all the locations that we needed to go. There were two spots in back to park and plenty in the front of the house. The house is bigger in person than in the pictures. It is beautiful! All modern amenities that you could want. It was great having a washer/dryer in the house, too. The beds were very comfortable which is a bonus! The owners were very response when we communicated with them. We would gladly rent this property again if/when we return to Lexington.

House with history
Awesome old home. I kept staring at the old beams in the living room wondering what stories they could tell. This house is well maintained and you can tell it is loved. We walked to downtown every night and even walked to the football stadium, but we can easily trek many miles per day. Might be hard with elderly or kids. There is street noise and sirens from a station close by. Didn’t phase me, but bring your earplugs if you aren’t accustomed to city life. Tip: if you want to do bourbon or horse farm tours, book now. The more popular ones book out months in advance. Nicer restaurants also need to be booked. Corto Lima is a few blocks away and was my favorite dining experience of the trip. The bars closest to campus have more college aged patrons and rowdy. Bars closer to the house are older and laid back. 109 Constitution St. go into the book store (wink wink)

Great Location!
We had a great girls trip to see JT! The location to Rupp Arena was PERFECT! We were able to walk to our event in under 10 minutes, slightly downhill. You pass lots of places to eat and shop too! The cabin/house was perfect for our group. There was a bed upstairs that was a little squeaky but we survived. The notes in the review book made us laugh and made the whole night even better! If we ever see anyone else at Rupp Arena we will totally reach out to stay here! Thanks for helping add to our memories!
