"I thought i just needed a place to sleep for the night. It turns out what i REALLY needed was a night at the spa. Everything was incredibly quiet and comfortable. Angelina was behind the counter and made everything flow seamlessly. She really went the extra mile to ensure i had a wonderful visit. "This was our first time here, but not our first in Trollhättan. The hotel is older, but very well kept. The staff (especially the owner, Ulrika, who works there) are really terrific and helpful. Our room had older, beautiful furniture. Common areas had nice touches like fresh flowers from Ulrika's mother's garden. Breakfast was terrific! "The house is just a regular villa without any extra soundproofing so when other guests stumbled in at one o'clock superdrunk everyone hears it. The guests then locked themselves in both bathrooms and started violently puking for everyone to hear. One other guest were sleeping off the whiskey in the living room couch. "Had to stand in the rain to get thru the front door so a small portico would help also where to park is not clear so we used the Burger King spaces as none were marked for hotel guests. Otherwise the room was fine and very quiet and breakfast was also quite good at Expresso house next door. Overall I like the concept but you need to be able to contact someone at all times so a contact number in room would help."

"Well in it's day I bet it was a smart hotel,it needs a bit of TLC but it was budget hotel so you don't have high expectations,but I did not expect a broken shower holder, and the shower screen was not on it's rails correctly and black mold ,it was a good bathroom apart from that and the room was ok "

"Excellent service. Very quiet and beautiful location. The staff at the restaurant were amazing. I arrived 10 minutes before closing and they made me the most delicious steak and potatoes. The cocktail I ordered was delicious too. For a small town this hotel and restaurant go above and beyond. Their food is more like a 5 star restaurant. Thank you!!!"

"The public areas are lovely - the space in front of the mansion, the breakfast/restaurant room with amazing views over the lake. It has lots of history, and the lobby is typically Swedish in its effortless cool. The room was a little less impressive. For the cost it was basically two adjoining conference rooms with very little in the way of comfort, and a very small, disappointingly dated bathroom. The view from the window was pleasant enough, over the road, but the building was incredibly poor in terms of soundproofing. The crystal clear sound of the resident above in the midst of his extraordinarily long urinations was just one of the sounds we really didn't need to hear. Again, the public areas in these buildings (all conference spaces) were well-furnished and geared up to team-building, it would seem. I would imagine there are a lot of such events through the year, and in July, when most businesses in Sweden are not operating anywhere near capacity, the hotel has more 'regular' guests. It would be good if there was a little more effort made for these guests, given the lovely location of the mansion. It is what attracted us, but really, what we got was an hour of that for breakfast, and a 1980s/90s conference space for the rest of the time. There wasn't even an outside space in our 'block', although one block did have one. That would be a pleasant and easily made addition to each block - the rooms are pretty small, so anything extra would be a bonus. "

"Hotel Carlia provided us a comfortable stay for our one night in Uddevalla. The bed was comfortable and the blackout curtains conveniently shielded us from any of the light during midsummer. The room was clean, though a bit outdated in the bathroom. Plenty of space throughout. It would have been nice to have more climate control as it felt rather hot and humid in the room. The window could be opened, which helped a bit. It was unfortunate that their gym and sauna facilities were being renovated as we would have enjoyed use of them. Although the area around the property has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants and small town shopping, the street immediately in front of the hotel is under construction and closed off, which made getting to the property tricky. The breakfast buffet was good, though it would have been nice to have items more clearly labeled for those with dietary restrictions/allergies. A member of our party is vegan and had some difficulty figuring out their options. When we asked the food service worker, she did not know the difference between vegetarian and vegan, so they recommended options that had milk and eggs. Other than these items, our one-night stay was comfortable. "
