Nice, quiet cottage
The cottage worked out well for us in Maine. Nice and quiet, good location, easy to get around. The gardens needed some attention and the lighting could be better in the kitchen (we are not fans of overhead fluorescents). Some foil, measuring cups and olive oil would be great too. Communication was great. Thank you for a nice stay.

Rustic Maine
From the start, communication was poor. We had to request the property manager's phone number through the VRBO website to text her to get the door entry code. We arrived to 2 small vases of lovely fresh wildflowers, a bottle of wine and some fresh farmer's market veggies which was nice. We had no condiments (not even salt and pepper) and some olive oil that had a sell-by date 2.5 years prior. The flooring is painted plywood and is worn and chipped. There are throw rugs everywhere that are worn and tired looking for the most part. The bed and sofa have lots of shabby, worn throw pillows that felt dirty to me. The walls are white painted fiberboard that gives it a "shed" feel. The king bed was lovely, but there were 2 small dirty spots on the white polyester quilt that made it look unwashed. The kitchen has a very expensive gas stove that had NO instructions and it was a bit tricky to figure out. Speaking of instructions, the owner arrived un-announced mid-morning of the 3rd day of our stay with a plumber to change out the shower-head. That day, I had started a load of laundry--not in the washer AND dryer, but in the small COMBINED washer/dryer. It took 4.5 hours on the "normal" setting and washes and drys the clothes without letting you take out the delicates before they are dried. It set some stains in a couple T-shirts. There were NO instructions for anything except 3 local hikes. I left 2 pages of suggestions as we are previous VRBO owners.
