Historic Linton Post Office

Welcome to the Historic Linton Post Office. This beautiful character filled building was built in 1880 and is situated in the centre of the quaint township of Linton in Western Victoria.

Linton is a picturesque old goldfields town located approximately 25 minutes west of Ballarat and 2 hour drive from Melbourne.

The Post Office is in a great location with easy access to the Skipton Rail Trail and Goldfields Track and a short drive to neighbouring country towns of western Victoria.

The Post Office has been converted from its original purpose into a comfortable three bedroom and two living area home that can comfortably accommodate 8 guests.

Two bedrooms have queen sized beds and the third bedroom has a single bed plus a bunk bed (the bottom bunk is a double and top bunk is a single).
All beds have electric blankets, pillows and linen provided.

A range of activities are supplied to be enjoyed in the spacious living area during your country getaway: books, movies, board games or choose to just relaxing by the open fire.
The kitchen and dining room area have all the comforts of home. Fully stocked pantry with ample breakfast items and ingredients to make a meal on your first night is provided and can be enjoyed by the slow combustion heater. A fully equipped kitchen and bbq area wo t disappoint.

We absolutely loved staying at this property. Beautifully presented with historical character. My only regret is not booking it for more than one night.

Country charm
The Linton Post Office is a charming place to stay and we very much enjoyed our stay. The beds are comfortable and the house is very spacious - especially the front room. We were there on a bitterly cold winter's weekend and the fire in the front room was no match for the cold, so we adjourned to the kitchen/dining room where the pot belly stove kept us warm. I would like to return in warmer weather to enjoy the front room - the original post office retail space as it has such charm and comfort. The split system in the hallway also helped with the heating and the electrical blankets very welcome. Denise was a great host - providing information we needed but left us to enjoy the property. The homemade jam was delicious!

Lovely property in a quiet and pretty town
The Linton post office is a spacious and beautifully presented accomodation. The bedrooms were cosy (we needed the electric blankets) and the wood heater kept us warm and happy in the dining room. The town is very quiet and presents a welcome chance to walk and admire wildlife and farm Animals. This was a really lovely place to stay.

Fabulous!
What a lovely and homey place to stay. We were in Ballarat for the basketball tournament over the long weekend. We arrived in Linton to a warm house with the fire burning. Denise was amazing and went out of her way to make everything perfect. The town is just gorgeous and the locals really friendly. There was live music at the pub and a game of pool. Thanks for having us. I would not hesitate to recommend staying here. The old Linton Post Office is perfect for that weekend getaway.

Charming country stop over
Beautifully renovated with excellent amenities. Host was amazing giving recommendations for places to eat and how to easily locate. The childrens room was set up perfectly with toys for them to play with which they loved. Would definitely stay again on future road trips. Perfectly located not far from Ballarat.

Autumnal peace and quiet
Book this place if you like peace and quiet, if you appreciate history, if you love trees, long walks, fireplaces (plural), if you want your doggo to be happy, if you hope to cook a meal, sleep well and if you love the idea of a fabulous retro/antique shop next door. A+ host. Don't book this place if you are hoping to replicate your suburban life in the country. We can't wait to return.

Lovely stay in the country
Older property with lots of charm. Ballarat is known for it's cool winters and it lived up to this. The wood heater provided lots of warmth and a lovely atmosphere to this rural township dwelling. The kind host provided us with some supplies to begin our stay. I had grown up in a similar home, so it brought back many happy memories. Recommended. Lots to see and do in` Ballarat and surrounds.

Country Style
Lovely historic building with a nice feel about it. Very comfy beds and lots of room. Good kitchen, seperate living areas and a big backyard. Hassle free entry where we were greeted by a personal welcome sign. Considerate owner who left us the makings for breakfast topped off a good stay. Highly recommended.

Cycling from Linton
A group of 8 cyclists had the most amazing stay at this property. The host Denise had thought of everything. The little extra touches from the old post office decor to the fresh flowers and the welcome blackboard in the entrance hall ensured we felt welcome straight away. Breakfast provisions along with all the kitchen amenities we could ever want was fabulous. With plenty of heating and electric blankets we were toasty warm for our stay as well. Unfortunately the local pub was not open due to owner injury but the pizza from the general store is highly recommended as well as treats from Clare Bear Sweets, if you are there on a Friday or Saturday. The proximity to the Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail was perfect for our group. We would definitely stay there again

The perfect Winter retreat
Loved the history of the building. Loved the town and the locals. Loved the comfort and coziness of the home, which is saying something, as it’s fairly spacious. That front room is really quite something. All the small touches (supplies, electric blankets, suggestions about what to do locally, etc) really made our stay that little bit special.
