We geatly enjoyed the convenient location. It was walking distance to theaters, dining, night clubs, and even the British Museum.

I arrived fairly later on into the evening as a lone female business traveller. On arrivial the two gentlemen on reception were polite but fairly intense, I was requested to provide ID for them to scan, as a UK resident I do not have to do that and I was not confident for that information to be kept on file. One of the young men also follwed me upto my room, opened my room for me and walked inside to show me the mini-bar, which I hadnt asked for and as a solo female traveller I found quite offputting. Not what I needed at 11pm and I did have to ask him to leave. The room was tidy but overall run down and grubby, bathroom shower and sink needed a wipe doen before use and the hotel linen had marks I guess from long-term use.Hotel is on Shaftsbury avenue which is a fairly noisy road, luckily I had my own ear plugs which helped and is something I would highly recommend. Overall this is 3 star standard, its expensive for what it is and I know of other hotels in the area that are nicer standard, less intense reception staff and overall better value money for the price I paid. Probably wont be back.

A fantastic weekend at this amazing 5 star property. From our check in to check out the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Amazing junior suite on top floor with great views. Very central and convenient for all shopping and dining options. Thank you, we shall definitely be back!

Check in was good. Staff efficient. [I had some trouble finding the hotel because no 'house' number or postcode given, but that's probably my fault for walking too quickly. the entrance is discrete]. Hotel v clean and bed linen clean and dry. En suite tiny but bspotless. Only problem is the TINY room with what was essentially a large SINGLE bed - not a hotel sizze double for sure and it wouldnt have fit in the room anyway. I would stay there again if on my own, but not with my partner. p.s. Lovely quality fruit [free] in room & coffee-making good. Also a safe etc.

The property was adequate for our purposes but overall, it was misrepresented and not as clean or amenable as was advertised. The gym and spa were under construction and we were not notified until I asked where it was located. There was mildew in the shower and stains on the carpets. Needs a deep clean and update.

The hotel welcome was lovely and the room touches were great. Unfortunately spa facilities weren’t available and this wasn’t communicated prior to stay, the welcome email still included them. The hotel space was quite tired in places including elements in the room. Had the price reflected this it wouldn’t have been an issue at all, sadly it didn’t.

Best features are the location and service of the staff. I was checked in efficiently had everything explained to me and was escorted to the room and show the facilities. The location is very central within walking distance to everything I wanted. The room itself was spacious and comfortable

Property is not luxury and very loud. We realize it’s on a busy street and had we known we’d not have picked it. We also thought there was a bar but when we asked the front desk person said it was closed, this was at 6-7pm. Our room was so small that when our luggage was taken to our room, the door wouldn’t open fully. We would not recommend this property even though it’s right in the middle of the theatre district. It’s worth staying farther out and walking a bit longer. Our room was so small there was no closet.

We had a great stay at the Montcalm and it was the perfect location for us to go to the theatre. In particular, Kayla on reception was really welcoming and friendly, and she made the check-in process fantastic. She is an asset to the hotel

Great welcome, room was ready before check in time which was great. Hotel is very central to everything, china town, harry potter house and picadilly circus. Overall enjoyed the stay very much. And highly recommend!
