This beautiful vacation home located in the private gated community of River Oak is 90 minutes from Washington DC, nestled between the George Washington National Forest and Shenandoah National Park just above the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. This newly constructed home with private 3.5 acre lot was completed in November 2017. It features 3 bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, fireplace, and Great Room all offering amazing views of the Shenandoah Valley. This home can accommodate from 1 to 6 people. Two master suites located on the main level feature one king bed, and one queen beds and private master baths with showers. An over-sized soaking tub, located in one master suite is a welcome refuge after a long day of hiking. The third bedroom located on the lower level, features Queen bed and a private full bath. Internet access for remote work on property. There is also a finished Rec-room on the lower level. An outdoor patio and dining area. Decks with grill, dining set, chairs all overlooking amazing views. All living areas and bedrooms have spectacular 180 degree mountain views. Private river access with a Pavilion picnic table on the river within River Oak community.
90 minutes from DC, close to Front Royal and Luray Caverns.

Lovely Get Away
Whispering Winds is a beautiful property; far above many rental properties we have stayed at. The pictures posted are accurate. We appreciated the 2 master suites on the same level. The kitchen is very well equipped making it easy to cook our full meals on site. Considering the distance to restaurants we are glad we did. The owners live next door and were helpful for questions. If we are in the area again we would definitely stay at Whispering Wind again!

Just a spectacular property and the owners are very quick at communicating. We loved it so much that we came back for a second stay a month later. Everything is perfect at this property. We had a lovely stay in this clean, comfortable home. We went hiking in Shenandoah and the nearby trail. We took a day to explore Strasburg and Winchester. We mostly enjoyed the beautiful view and playing games and chatting by the fire. The hosts were kind and were available to answer any questions and to offer hiking and restaurant suggestions.

Great Location with a few notes
My friends and I loved the location & views of this property. It truly was beautiful and convenient to get to from Front Royal! The only two down sides were the smelly well water (well water that looked orange/yellow in the toilet & sink and smelled like sulfur) and the hosts coming over multiple times. They came over to re-iterate headcount and remind us that parties were not allowed. We weren't throwing any parties and were just having a low key weekend away with a few friends, so we were kind of surprised and confused by this. The hosts were not aggressive, but it did kind of put a damper on the weekend when they showed up unexpectedly and made us feel as if we were doing something wrong or breaking the rules. I would still recommend this place as a nice getaway, but would also tell guests to be aware that the host may show up unannounced. Just trying to give a fair and accurate perspective based on our experience.

Lovely getaway
We spent a weekend exploring the Shenandoah National Park, Luray Caverns and Front Royal. Lots of good food and music in Front Royal (try Try Thai), and a helpful visitors center. The best part though was being at the house enjoying the the fireplace, especially the fire pit on the deck, and the bay window both overlooking the valley!

What a perfect way to spend the weekend with our family. We had everything we needed, a perfect setting, to spend quality time with our children. The view of the Blue Ridge Mountains/SNP from the deck is mesmerizing. Great spot to unwind with friends and family. Location is fabulous: can walk to Tuscarora Trailhead for a nice wooded hike or run in GW National Forest. 5 minute drive to Shennandoah River State Park with great trails for walking, running or biking. We have stayed at a number of mountain homes using VRBO. This home is one of the nicest homes we have ever stayed in. We had such an enjoyable stay. The property is beautiful and so comfortable for our family. There are two large bedrooms with bathrooms on the first floor and lovely suite downstairs. Way more room even than I expected. The owners were so communicative and helpful. The views are incredible and it is so relaxing to sit out and admire the view on one of the many decks! It was a nice walk to the river. We did many enjoyable hikes during our stay in the area including one we didn't even have to drive to, went to a small and lovely local winery, went canoeing, and had just a great time. Highly recommend.

Wonderful property, in fantastic countryside
We had a very good time at the amazing Whispering Winds. The house is stunning, the facilities great and the surrounding area is teeming with wildlife. Deer and fawn in the front garden when we arrived, multitude of birds, rabbits, and loud call of cicada to accompany the outdoor dinners.
