Pleasant Fall Stay
We wanted to see fall colors and enjoy some cooler temperatures, and we got all that and more. The cabin is nestled in the trees and right next to a small lake, very picturesque. Check in was opening a padlock on the mailbox. The cabin is a nice size for 2 and is nicely equipped for meal prep, relaxation and unplugged enjoyment.

Two week stay
Cabin was great, was a little concerned about the road in but it wasn’t a problem. Location to park and hikes good, luray caverns, James Madison home also worth seeing. 5 deer out the back window on Saturday. Thanks for the new deck and steps. 😊. Only suggestion would be we had salt and no pepper and no charcoal for the grill. Beds are old and we ended up using two but all in all a fun cabin.

Basic, but cozy and charming and met our needs
The cabin is basic and could probably use some updating on a few things, But it seemed the host gave a good deal of thought to making sure that Guests would have what they need. The suggestions to rely on printed turn-by-turn instructions to find the property instead of relying on GPS got me a little lost arriving. If you have set your g p s before getting close to the cabin, you'll probably make out just fine. But there is no cellular service in the area of the cabin on either t mobile or verizon, So take that into consideration when planning. Once there, though, we had everything we needed. First shower was cold, but I found the breaker box and turned the hot water back on there. There was a note in a welcome guide on the coffee table saying that we would need to engage the hot water heater breaker. But I didn't realize it until a day or so into our visit. Some are cooling was provided by a single window unit air conditioner, Located at the opposite end of the cabin, from the bedrooms. With the bedroom doors closed, A/C unit provided limited comfort unless set very cold. The bedrooms are an open design which does allow some airflow over the walls, below the cabin ceiling, so that was a help. Cabin was convenient to old rag mountain, Our hiking destination and that worked well for us. We had one or two days with rain, But the cabin was comfy and cozy for an afternoon of reading to pass the time. We enjoyed our stay!

Be Careful...
The cabin is well located to the Madison County, VA area and it is secluded. However, it's old, crusty & musty and a bit overdue for a make over. Kinda reminds me of an old boy scout camp. The biggest issue, however, is access to the cabin itself. I would have to advise anyone with any mobility issue at all to think carefully before renting. The approaches are steep, many high rise steps that are made from concrete blocks and in very poor deteriorated condition. And there's no way to position your vehicle directly next to the cabin entrance doors for unloading & loading. So if you must rent here, I'd strongly advise packing very lightly or you'll be dragging your gear up and down over the damaged concrete steps. It's a slip & fall lawyers dream really. We left a day early as a result.

Unplugging in VA
It was wonderful to disconnect and spend time in this cabin! GREAT please to go to unwind in the mountains without the stress of camping. The hosts sent us directions prior which helped as we got into the area. 5 days was not enough to do all the things! Especially with fourth of July in the mix. Thinking of returning in the fall ... but we were able to eat at some local restraunts, tour Luray caverns, drive on Skyline drive, and spend as much time as possible outside! The VRBO info / page was a little confusing with contradicting amenities but Jane quickly answered my messages to answer any questions!

Cozy new year's getaway
We had a lovely new year's weekend tucked away in Jane's cozy cabin. Her directions and instructions to get to and get in the cabin are very good, given that you will lose cell signal about 5-6 miles away from the cabin. My gps did still work correctly, but be prepared not to rely on it. There are also a good number of steps to get to the cabin from the driveway. This isn't a place for anyone with mobility issues. That said, we had the best time unplugging, just watching movies, going for walks around the pond, watching deer and other wildlife go about their day. It was not a big deal to get back to Madison for groceries. And Graves Mountain Lodge and a little deli are very close by. It was perfect for a weekend getaway.

Weekend getaway!
The cabin is very cozy and private, although there are neighbors but no one too close. It is very dated and better not suited for kids under 4 yrs of age ( because of the wood stove location and outlets) The pond view is very pretty. We visited a few local wineries. Overall, we had a very relaxed stress-free weekend. We would definitely return. I bet fall is beautiful there. It is not handicapped accessible.

you're down to be unplugged in a cozy spot with no frills, this is the place for you.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights as a "mini honeymoon", it was the perfect escape to completely unplug and relax following our crazy busy summer and wedding weekend. The kitchen is bare bones but had what we needed to cook some simple meals (pot, pan, strainer, spatula, etc). The bed in the larger room was not very comfortable for me but my husband didn't mind it, so if you're finniky about mattresses take that into account. The pond and surrounding area is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting by the firepit in the evening. Close to hiking trails with waterfalls and a nice country store which we really enjoyed visiting. The AC in the cabin worked well to cool the small space and it was a very hot week! Overall, we were thrilled with our stay and my husband kept saying he wished we had booked a full week.

Peaceful Getaway
The cabin is clean and cozy. The balcony does face the pond, but couldn't see much of it because some small tree branches block the view. I would have liked to see more of the pond from the balcony. However, walk down to dock and get a gorgeous view of the pond. Caught 4 Bream off the dock as well. If like privacy, peace and quiet, this is the place to be.
