  • Located on St. George Hill, over-looking the city of Lviv, the church was the perfect target for destruction in the past. At least two versions of the St. George Cathedral were built before the final construction of the church as it is seen today. The Cathedral of St. George became the mother congregation of the Greek-Catholic religion in Ukraine. The St. George Cathedral in Lviv, is home to one of the most treasured relics, which was brought to the cathedral by Bishop Jiseph Shumlianskyi in 1674. It is the Icon of the Virgin Mary, and is a spectacular and preserved artifact. The interior was decorated with luxurious embellishments created by the local artistic talents of Lviv. Pinsel, the sculptor of the cathedral, created the spectacular St. George (known as the Dragon Slayer) statue. The St. George statue can be viewed in the attic of the cathedral, while the intimidating statues of St. Athanasius and St. Leo protect the portal. Renovations to the St. George Cathedral took place in the 1996, restoring the original beauty of the cathedral. Tourists, visiting this amazing historical masterpiece will not be disappointed. Over and above the cathedral, visitors can also visit the belfry, walk through the peaceful gardens or enter the final resting place of many important figures of the past in the tombs below the cathedral.

  • Lovely view of old Lviv from the top of the tower in the center of Ploscha Rynok. That's the Latin Cathedral, one of the oldest still-active churches in the city. To climb the tower, go up the first four flights of stairs to the ticket desk. The way is clearly marked with signs in multiple languages, including English. At the desk, pay 10 hrivna and then keep climbing up, up, and up until you reach the open deck at the top of the tower. Then enjoy the view!

It’s a must stay hotel

The hotel is in a very good area and the staff was excellent. Very friendly and polite. We also had family Dog with us which they did not mind and were very nice about it.

Expedia sent me a message saying "Guests loved the breakfast. What about you?" -- How can Expedia make such blatant mistakes?-Urban Hotel is nice, -one of the better hotels I've stayed at here in Ukraine.-But they don't offer breakfast. You can buy a cup of coffee for 20 hyrivnias. Expedia should do a better job sending out messages to travelers on trips.-

For what we needed it for, it was adequate. No AC in any rooms made for a warm evening and difficulty in sleeping. Parking is a huge challenge unless you arrive earlier in the day and don't move your vehicle. Dining options are very limited nearby so plan accordingly. Being an empty bottle of water to fill up in the lobby as there is no water in the rooms. For the price it was a decent value. The downsides are parking as mentioned and the distance to the center of the city

Готель сам по собі ніби нічого, але звукоізоляція нікудишня. Вночі чутно як хтось тихо йде до свого номера, чутно як хтось розмовляє в сусідньому номері, ніби ця людина сидить поруч із тобою. До центру міста та залізничного вокзалу далекувато. Ремонт в номері косметичний, але не ідеальний. В цілому скажу нормально окрім звукоізоляції в номерах. Персонал дуже привітний - це дійсно радує))

It works, but that's it.

While the staff is friendly and the rooms functional, the hotel sits on top of a row of shops next to a large residential high-rise complex. It's noisy at night especially with the windows open, and without any a/c, you will have to have the windows open.

The room was perfectly servicable and the staff were quite helpful. My only complaint is that there is no air conditioning in the room and the window hardly opens. A hot summer can be quite unpleasant under those circumstances.
