Not sure where the 4stars come from heating did not work in the room, the bath was a whirlpool type that was broken and the jet covers on the bath bottom were broken so if you was not careful the exposed pointy jet stabbed the bottom of your feet. Mold all over the shower head. A shame really the main reception is stunning.

Very disappointing, tired hotel in desperate need of modernisation. Poor value for money. Such a shame as the grounds are beautiful.

Beautiful location with wonderful walks. Dog friendly but it felt we were dumped in a really filthy room and I had to request a clean before I would use the shower. No refresh of toilet paper and hand soap after the first night. The breakfast offering was really poor with very poor quality cooked breakfast and no continental option. We had trouble finding staff at breakfast and had to seek them out! So much promise from a fantastic building but clearly needs some investment in the infrastructure, decor and staff!

The hotel is in beautiful surroundings but the room was dated/ in need of attention- marks on walls/ dirty curtains. Our room was right above the courtyard so noise went on until gone 2:30am.

Booked deluxe double room (Rm 239) and although room was spacious and bed comfortable, decor was tired, and bathroom was very poor and not in keeping with a 4 star hotel. Room was around 300m to 4oom away from reception (including 2 separate lifts) and if we had known, would have requested a nearer room as I have a disability and struggled. Also, dining experience service was poor with a fair bit of negotiation with restaurant staff as to whether they could accommodate us and 2 guests when place was not busy. Whilst eating meal, tried to order more drinks and was told to go to the bar and serve ourselves. Only after insisting that we would prefer table service, did the staff oblige (appreciate that they may been understaffed). Sleep was interrupted for several hours by very noisy / angry / shouting guest (probably wedding party) until 1.30am in the morning. Car park at front of building littered with glasses from guests the morning after. The Spa facilities were good but only wanted to take swim at a cost of £49 per person. I transpires that I could have got this at much lower cost, had I booked with room. Overall experience was very poor comparing to other 4 star hotels in the vicinity such as Rookery hall and Carden Park.

Very bad stay.
When booking, there is no mention of an additional fee for the spa and the pool. This was the only reason I booked this hotel. You will receive an email AFTER you have booked and paid, stating the additional fees. This is entrapment. The single room is not what is clearly shown in the pictures. I was put into a old, basic and minimal room. The photos only show the window of the room on the booking page. Again, this is entrapment. The 'nicer' room is in full view. The greeting was very rude. I was given no information, no directions (which was very much needed in this poorly laid out hotel woth no clear signage. The lack of information caused A LOT of inconveince, walking around in torrential rain. The food at the bar was very expensive. £17 for what was pretty much a microwave meal and £7.75 for a pint of larger. Don't be fooled by the nice pictures. Its dated, expensive, and lots of hidden costs.

The hotel was ok. The breakfast was good. The building was nice. However it was not worth the money due to having to pay £60.00 per person for the spa. So basically £60.00 for a swim on top of the stay. I've been in dozens of hotels in the UK and never ever paid for the spa. Therefore I won't be returning

Worth a trip just could be better
The greasy breakfast left much to be desired along with the warm fruit juices and only a choice of grape fruit or orange slices that wasn't very nice. The bedroom was filthy and very dusty. The bathroom was exceptionally poor, the bath was all marked and grimey. The plug hole full of slime, hair and whatever else. Limscale and mould on the shower head, cracked sink. It is such a beautiful place however with the mediocre breakfast & overall poor upkeep in cleanliness & room quality really let this place down. I would like to say that it did not ruin the stay although i can't.... with the prices being what rhey are you rxpect luxury and the price of a drink £7.50 thats shocking
