*** ELECTRIC POLICY - Most houses in Granada charge you separately for electricity. We don't. However electric costs in Nicaragua are EXTREMELY HIGH; greater than $.55 per KW hr (the highest in Central America and 5X the US average). 15% of your rental rate is applied towards payment of electrical usage. Your meter will be read upon check-in and check-out and any excess over 15% of your rent will be taken from your deposit. (For example: if you are paying $1,000.00 in rent, you have $150 in credit towards electricity. If the meter reads less than $150 used you owe nothing and receive your deposit back. If the meter reads $160 in electric costs, $10 would be taken from your deposit.) NOTE: if you simply use the air conditioning at night you should never go over the 15% and no we aren't going to ding you if you're over by $10.
