This beautiful public park in Spokane’s South Hill neighborhood features formal gardens with immaculate flowerbeds, a conservatory and a duck pond.

Manito Park is a 90-acre (36-hectare) public park, home to five pretty gardens, pleasant trails and fun playgrounds. Admire the park’s gardens and enjoy a range of outdoor activities, including walking, cycling and bird watching. During the winter, sled down one of the park’s snow-covered hills or skate on its frozen pond.

With spacious lawns, Manito Park is a great spot for picnicking and relaxing. This picturesque park includes two children’s playgrounds, which feature climbing areas, a splash pad and a softball diamond. Play a game of tennis on one of the park’s three tennis courts. See ducks, swans and geese at Mirror Pond, located in the northwest corner of the park.

Visit the Rose Hill Garden to see over 150 species of roses. This is one of the park’s most popular formal gardens and features more than 1,500 bushes blooming with roses of many different colors and sizes.

With more than 300 species of plants, the Perennial Garden’s ever-changing landscape is worth checking out any time of year. Don’t miss the Lilac Garden during the May flowering season. Discover the Nishinomiya Japanese Garden, a serene artistic garden, which represents the relationship between Spokane and the Japanese city of Nishinomiya.

Visit Gaisler Conservatory to see seasonal displays of flowers, tropical plants and desert plants. Stop by during the Christmas season to see its enchanting Holiday Lights Show, when over 30,000 lights illuminate the plants. This greenhouse is located north of Duncan Garden, a 3-acre (1-hectare) Renaissance-style garden with a striking granite fountain.

Head to the Park Bench Café for coffee, smoothies and light meals. Located near the duck pond, this small café is open daily during the summer and on weekends in the offseason.

Manito Park is located 2 miles (3 kilometers) from the center of Spokane, Washington. Admission is free. Take advantage of the free parking found next to the park’s main entrance.

With sporting areas, scenic gardens and well-kept lawns, Manito Park is an ideal place to enjoy a day outside when visiting Spokane.
