Tranquility View - Off Grid Scandinavian Luxury

Perched on a South-facing mountain in the narrow Cascade River valley, this home gets lovely light and sits on 5 acres. Access is via a paved, well-maintained road which allows all car types to visit.

The home interior is coated in maple panels. The main sitting room has large windows that open to views of the glaciers and orchard. There is a Rais wood-burning stove and detailed directions on how to build a fire. Most of the heat in the cooler months is made by the woodstove; plenty of wood is available. A split heater also provides heat in the winter and cooling in the summer. A walnut live-edge desk with 2 chairs provides a lovely place to write, work, read, and eat while overlooking the valley. A custom wrap-around sofa provides ample sitting room (it is 8 feet on each side) and a high-end sleeping surface should more than 2 guests be staying.

The kitchen has marble countertops and a Kohler sink. There is a fridge, freezer, and gas stove/oven. There is also a Breville countertop oven that is fast, excellent, and easy. Sharp knives and cutting boards, pots and pans, silverware and plates, a pressure cooker and waffle maker, a French press and kettle, and all the kitchen accoutrement available for use.

The Japanese-tiled bathroom has a lovely shower head with high pressure hot water and is stocked with bath products.

A large outdoor deck provides the perfect vantage to take in the giant maples, firs, cedars, and alders, and to enjoy the quiet and solitude of the narrow valley. Two Adirondack chairs and a large cedar bench offer a great way to look up at the evening sky or to take a nap in the afternoon sunshine. Stroll around and pick apples, blueberries, blackberries, plums, and cherries from one of the 70+ fruit trees on the property.

High-speed, low-latency satellite internet is available via Starlink. This service allows guests to use the internet as if they were in a city; you will be able to stream movies/shows, place WiFi phone calls (eg, FaceTime calls) and texts, browse the internet, etc with no data caps or limits.

A gem
We went hiking at Maple Pass loop so glad to find this place. We arrived in the dark and had some difficulty locating the house so highly recommend getting there during the daytime. The front door wouldn’t open but luckily back door wasn’t locked so we could get in and contacted the management and they came out the next day to fix the door. The house was surrounded by mountains and trees and just peaceful. Management alerted us that the bed was only for 2 ppl and extra ppl would have to sleep on sofa. Our kids thought it was not comfortable to sleep on so keep that in mind. We also had difficulty opening the gate, it got stuck and needed strength to open so hopefully that will get fixed.

Incredible nature stay
Fantastic off-grid experience! As an engineer this place was fascinating with the solar and hydro-electric. Views simply otherworldly. I would come back here in a heartbeat.

Incredible cabin away from it all
This is the most incredible cabin, perched on a hill overlooking the valley with a beautiful view of the North Cascades peaks in the distance. It’s in the perfect location to explore the National Park, whether down to Cascade Pass (~40 mins drive), or to Washington Pass overlook on Highway 20 (1h15m scenic drive). Other than the campgrounds, it’s the closest you can get to the trailheads that go into the national park. Inside is very spacious, there was room for two of us to spread out, and room for our two big suitcases to be unpacked and stored away. The kitchen is well stocked, the bathroom is spacious, and the deck was wonderful to sit out on and enjoy the view - especially at sunset! We even saw a Black Bear one morning enjoying some of the fruit off the trees, which was such a thrill. Our only issue was with the gate at the entrance to the property, it’s a bit fiddly and requires some physical effort; we first arrived to check-in just after sunset and it was difficult to figure out in the dimming light. All other aspects of our stay were wonderful, the host was incredibly responsive, and we’d highly recommend this place to everyone.

Secluded relaxation at its best
We loved our two nights at the cabin. We loved sitting on the deck with a glass of wine and dinner on the grill after days exploring the North Cascades. The finishes were excellent and appreciated. The kitchen had everything we needed for meal prep. The bed was comfortable. The Bose bluetooth speaker was a great addition. It was a little struggle unlocking the gate (a night arrival would have been real tough) and my wife was surprised by the request not to use hair dryer etc. but it was exactly what we expected and hoped for. The views were amazing.we loved it.

Hideaway
This is a wonderful place at the edge of the National Park. It has StarLink wifi, so isn’t really “off grid” although the electricity and hot water come from solar and hydro. Comfortable, well maintained with beautiful views. The front driveway gate is a bit hard to push and maybe needs some WD 40 is our only observation. Hope to stay here again.

Great cabin, great host.
This off the grid cabin is both charming and very green. It’s electrical power comes from stored hydroelectric and solar panels. It had everything we needed and more. We especially loved the large deck. We had breakfast ouside every morning to enjoy the spectacular views, the cool air, the beautiful wild flowers and abundance of different birds. Our host was amazing! She answered every message I sent almost immediately with helpful and detailed information.

seclusion
one of the best rentals ive ever stayed at. if you are looking to be completely secluded, the closest neighbor is miles down the road. nights are pitch black and the mornings are greeted by nothing but nature. not even a hint of civilization except for the road and the occasional car heading to deep n. cascades. the kitchen is small but has every utensil you may need. the only thing it was lacking is a microwave, but that is a very minor inconvenience. bed is super comfy, there are new railings for the staircase (not pictured) leading to the bed. the bathroom and the entire house are very clean and the water gets hot. i loved my stay here and felt it was well worth the price.

Cascades get away
We had a wonderful time in the beauty of the Cascades. This was a nice spot to get away. It was interesting to be off-grid, but the host/property manager were very responsive to any concerns. Suggest bringing a nightlight for negotiating the narrow, rail-less stairs for nighttime bathroom trips. Overall, a lovely experience.

Exceedingly nice cabin. Close to Northern Cascades. Lovely views from the deck, great place for a beverage. Would rent again should our travels take us that way.
