Trabucco Trails - Stargaze near Yosemite

IMPORTANT: IF BRINGING A DOG TELL US BEFORE YOU ARRIVE (PET FEE WILL APPLY)

Trabucco Trails is conveniently located near Yosemite in California's Gold Country, on a historic parcel near the Mariposa County community of Bear Valley, on a quiet, rural stretch of Highway 49.

During the Gold Rush days, the parcel was once cultivated as a vegetable garden, while Forty-Niners discovered gold in the area. The historic rock walls on property mark the perimeter where the garden once grew.

The joy of discovery continues here today. Now you can discover the vast riches our universe has to offer. Trabucco Trails, located on 17 privately owned acres, provides you with a grand opportunity to stargaze using high-end, easy-to-use instruments. A robotic GO-TO telescope is provided during your stay, and is included in the rental cost. This open, rural stretch of Highway 49, which is considered 'above the fog and below the snow', provides you with many clear night opportunities, even in winter

The Trabucco Trails House, newly constructed in 2018, is well appointed and available year round. Mariposa, the county seat, which is 10 miles south, has many essential services, along with many wonderful dining, shopping, and historic sight-seeing experiences. Yosemite National Park's West entrance is located about 45 minutes away up Highway 140 from Mariposa.

We provide housekeeping service (not daily maid service), before and after your stay. Courtesy towels, coffee, tea, cocoa, popcorn, and guest soap are provided to welcome you on the day you arrive. Personal key code access provides you with convenience and security. We also provide a fold-away sofa bed in the living room.

Because of the rural nature of the area, there is abundant opportunity for wildlife sightings, such as deer, wild turkey, coyote, bobcat, birds of prey, and perhaps an occasional bear. Seasonal creeks at the North and South ends of the property flow during winter and spring. And, of course, there are plenty of trails here at Trabucco Trails here on our 17 privately owned acres for your outdoor experience pleasure. Make sure to leave some time in your schedule during your stay for stargazing too.

Using the telescope, beautiful views of the Orion Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy, Hercules Cluster, and many other deep sky objects are yours to behold. The telescopes offer a TOUR mode, which takes you to the best and brightest objects in the sky during your stay. Stargazing doesn't get any easier than this.

From hiking trails to star trails, you will enjoy a memorable Yosemite experience when you stay at Trabucco Trails.

Mariposa cabin
It was a private cabin feel, just what we were looking for. Blinds were dusty & could use vacuuming & maybe a cheap box of Kleenex added to bathroom but otherwise quite comfortable

Very Nice Getaway Cabin
The place was very nice and secluded, we were a little skeptical of the location but when we got there it wasn't as bad as we thought, there was also another Cabin in the property that other people were also staying at. The place was very clean the only thing it could've maybe used was an air freshener. Other than that the location of the property was very convenient, it was 10 minutes away to the nearest town and going up to Yosemite was about an hour away taking 140 freeway, I would say it would be the safest route you can take to go to Yosemite, so if you're planning on going I totally recommend staying here.

What a wonderful home. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch with the beautiful views and listening to all the birds. We even had a hummingbird come by twice during our stay!! The beds were comfortable and the house was very clean. Overall an enjoyable stay!

Perfect little haven
Sweet little 2 bedroom 1 bath with a nice kitchen and all the essentials. Town isn't far if you forget something but the kitchen has the basic cookware, like pots and pans - we stayed in and cooked the whole time we were there. The property is amazing and the wildflowers were beautiful during our stay. Cloudy skies so we didn't get a chance to use the telescope, which came with a lengthy manual for use. Overall, absolutely beautiful, wonderful place, and we want to return. I noticed a previous visitor had stayed 12 days here and wondered what they did the whole time, but after just a few hours in this slice of paradise, I understood. We hiked Hetch Hetchy valley during our stay, which was about 1 hr 45 mins away, but not much is close in the mountains so no point in complaining about it. Just know what you're in for and enjoy the ride.

Cabin in rural setting with views
The property was as described and the place was peaceful and relaxing. Bedding in the twin room could use an upgrade as we had adults sleeping there. We used it as a base for visiting Yosemite, howevere the ride to the park took much longer than expected (about 2 hours each way). It was a major drawback to the stay such that we left one day early due to the drive, especially on the twisting roads at night.

Great place- could use some touches
We enjoyed the property overall, but don't let all the photos draw you completely in. The area is less green, and by the looks of it, all that green is relatively short lived. Second bedroom beds are mediocre at best. Young kids may be able to handle them, but if you way over 100 pounds it is a tough sleep. Fruit fly control challenging, but that is the area this time of year. We liked it, but a little more attention to detail would make it a 5 instead of 4 star.

This place was exactly what i was looking for, my expectations were met in almost everything. This is definitely a beautiful cabin, were you can expect quietness and tranquility but at the same time you're only minutes away from a grocery and some restaurants in case you need anything. Mikaela was also very helpful to us.

Beautiful country cabin
My girls loved running around the property and climbing trees. The creek on the property was a plus and we enjoyed following it and skipping rocks as we went. Starring at the stars was amazing as well. Cabin was close to everything we wanted to do and no issues at all.

Wonderful Cabin Stay
This was our home base for a couple days at Yosemite, and my only regret is that we didn't allocate enough time to stargaze in the evenings! The cabin itself is clean (we only saw a couple spiders, nothing else) and has all the essentials (nothing fancy, but very serviceable). We enjoyed the snack basket and the convenience of having a washer and dryer available. The telescope in the cabin looks pretty nice, but we wore ourselves out exploring Yosemite so we didn't have energy in the evenings to try to figure out how to set up and use the telescope. The other house on the property apparently has use of the little observatory we could see, so maybe next time we'll try to book that rental instead! Water saving tip: the water faucet in the shower is flipped so if you want hot water you gotta turn it to what is usually labelled "cold". Be prepared for dark roads at night! Appreciated that the turnoff to the house was marked with a lit sign. :) The bed in the master bedroom is quite high, so take care while getting down. Was lovely to wake up to the sound of birds and not much else in the morning, and the quiet at night was refreshing. Thanks for a lovely stay!
