Traditional Character House in unspoilt Cyprus village, sea views, private pool

The Cobblers (named because this was once the village cobblers house) is a large and spacious traditional village house but with all the modern comforts that a sophisticated traveller requires. FREE WI FI , PRIVATE SWIMMING POOL, SEA VIEWS , new luxury bathroom and UK style plugpoints.
The house is at least 200 years old and built on 3 sides around a private courtyard. The three wings of the house all connect to each other via the courtyard. There are lovely stone paved areas with plants and swimming pool, graced with an ancient olive tree which gives welcome shade in summer.
The Cobblers is the home of London fashion designer Marguerite Hannah who has brought her designers vision to the lovely artistic interior, which features personally chosen art and objects which enhance the beautiful peaceful ambience of this special house.
There is a spectacular elevated furnished sun deck where you can enjoy the sea views with a glass of wine at the end of the day.
During the day you can enjoy the private swimming pool which has ample sun beds around the stone patio area around the pool. The outside area is substantial and you can always find a little quiet space around the garden which is filled with lovely Mediterranean plants and flowers in terracotta pots. There are 3 spacious bedrooms, 1 double ,1 family room with double bed and sofa bed and 1 twin. One wing of the house has the twin and family bedrooms which share the family size luxury bathroom with walk in shower. The other double bedroom is located across the courtyard and has its own en suite shower room. The large kitchen has a large cooking area along with a spacious dining area with table and chairs to sit 6 people very comfortably. On the first floor there is a very large double size lounge with a/c separated by an open arch. On one side there is a tv room with DVD player and large video library. You can also connect your own devices by supplied hdmi cable. On the other side is a cosy reading lounge with two large armchairs and wood burning stove for romantic winter evenings. We also have a quiet room with a/c with a collection of books on the ground level.
There is plenty of space on the adjoining land for vehicles. A car is fairly essential to enjoy your stay at the Cobblers and car hire is very reasonable in Cyprus. Very small children would need to be supervised due to the stone steps and terraces which make up the garden.
Maroni is almost equidistant to Larnaca , Limassol and Nicosia, which are all well within 1 hours drive. The Village of Maroni is very traditional and picturesque but it has a supermarket and a lovely coffee shop/bar with an English owner a few steps from the house where you can enjoy a cocktail and light snacks. The fishing village of Zygi is about 10m drive away and has an array of seafood restaurants.
The house is a five minute drive to the local beach which is about a mile away.
The Cobblers is a unique and special house and we are sure you will enjoy your stay.

Charming Cottage
We really enjoyed our stay at Cobblers, a unique property where every room opens onto the lovely courtyard with an olive tree in the middle to shade under in the heat of the day. The pool is a nice size even if it looks a little small in the pictures it’s actually about 1.5m deep and big enough to swim short lengths. The sun terrace was enjoyable as the shade and cool breeze made for a comfortable place to sit even in the middle of the day. Maroni beach just about 5 minutes in the car has a few sunbeds and a small cafe but still small enough to not feel overwhelmed with tourists, I think most users were local. And keeping it local anyone staying at Cobblers should visit The Piazza local restaurant just a short walk away from the cottage where we had the best meal in Cyprus for value and quality. The mezze we shared was the most food I’ve ever seen presented to me with many tasty courses, and the night we ate there live music played on the stage. All of us want to return as we enjoyed our time in Cyprus at Cobblers so much.

Spacious villa with great hodtd
Our stay at the cobblers was excellent. We had a few more questions than normal as we had an 18 month old travelling with is. Allan answered all of our questions quickly and helpfully. The welcome basket was much appreciated as we landed late at night. Maroni is a great spot which is quiet, but near to both Larnaca and limmassol

Far from the madding crowd....
We had a wonderfully relaxing time at The Cobblers. The house is spacious and characterful, set around an attractive courtyard on different levels with a number of seating areas to relax, eat or lie by the pool - the rooftop terrace with its welcome breeze was a favourite spot! Maroni village is quiet and unspoilt, with easy access to a number of beaches, an interesting Neolithic site (if you like ruins), also a fascinating bee and embroidery museum and a family-run restaurant with delicious and authentic Greek fare, all to be found at/near the village of Lefkara. We loved our stay and would thoroughly recommend this charming house if you can manage different levels (probably not ideal for the very elderly or very young).

Peaceful house in great village
We were a family of 6 adults staying for 8 days at Cobblers. Everything was as described, plenty of room for us all to holiday without tripping over each other. Pool was great at the end of a day sightseeing and we loved the view from the terrace! Costas helped with great check in and out. We loved the quiet village and proximity to everything. You must visit Lenias tavern in nearby Psematismenos for great local food. Thank you for a great family holiday!

Magnificent Maroni villa
Our stay at the Cobblers was perfect. The space combines old world charm with modern conveniences. You enter the home through a low entryway at the bottom of a stone street. Immediately, you will see the lovely landscaped garden and pool area. Our family (2 adults, 10 year old & 5 year old girls) found it so serene to spend our days under the umbrella by the pool. The master bedroom and bedroom with two single beds are located in one part of the home, separated by a full bath. A separate entrance welcomes you into the third bedroom where you will find an en-suite full bath, and a laundry closet. All bedrooms were generous in size and have air con. The entire home has air con except for the bathrooms and kitchen. While I would prefer it everywhere (I am American after all), the area has cooler temperatures in the evening making cooking or showering tolerable. Upstairs from the main entryway and kitchen is a spacious sitting room. Directly above that is my favorite part of the house, a terrace overlooking Maroni village with views of the sea. I found it to be the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset. There is also a second sitting room between the entryway and the main bedrooms. Everywhere you turn, there are places to discover in this villa and everyone felt that they had privacy and plenty of personal space. We have been to Maroni many times as my husband’s grandparents are from the village, but this trip was extra special with the accommodations!

Not only is Maroni the perfect village near the sea but the Cobblers House was pure pleasure. From sitting under the ancient olive tree, a dip in the pool or on the viewing deck overlooking the sea and village! Best family vacation ever and will definitely go back and refer to others!

Safe, private environment for all the family.
The villa is exactly as described and the photos show the facilities accurately. We were a family ranging in age from 4 to 75 and we all had a great time. We were self catering and were able to find everything we needed in the villa. The local market around the corner was handy for basics like eggs milk and bread, however a more substantial shop could be done at the supermarket about 20 mins away . We ate out twice at the taverna in Maroni and in Tochni. Both venues were reasonably priced and served ample portions. Our time at the villa was great fun. The pool was used extensively and those needing shade were always able to find some. We were met by Costa, the venue manager who was easily contactable if we needed him which was seldom. The way the villa surrounds the courtyard and pool provides a safe private environment in which to relax and enjoy oneself. My family had a fabulous holiday and would highly recommend.

Lovely quirky property
The Cobblers is certainly a unique holiday stay. It's very old and characterful, and all the rooms are accessed from either the external staircase or the multi-levelled courtyard. Although there are three bedrooms, it's best suited for a couple who want to chill out amongst all the peaceful quirkiness. We wouldn't recommend the house for the very tall (low doorframes), very young (many, many steps) or those with mobility issues. There's air-con throughout, although cooling breezes keep the heat at bay without wasting electricity. There are plenty of sun loungers for following the sun around the pool. The kitchen is adequately equipped and there's a pleasant dining area with windows onto the very quiet street. Our favourite part of the house was the top floor, with a TV lounge that's perfect for catching up with Netflix (bring your own Roku-type dongle) and a comfortable snug for reading. There's the usual overpriced, understocked minimarket in the village, so shopping for provisions is best done at the Alphamega hypermarket near the turn off from the A1 onto the B1. The allegedly excellent Old Coffee Shop, a street or two from The Cobblers, has closed, so village eateries are limited to Lenia's Taverna (actually in Psematismenos) and the Piazza Maroni. The latter is a huge space with plastic tables and chairs, large TVs and, horror of horrors, a children's bouncy castle, and the kitchen serves family-friendly food, with indiscriminate use of a deep-fat fryer. Lenia's is far better for couples, with warm service and authentic Cypriot dishes, but the emphasis is similarly meaty. The best local restaurant is Tochni Tavern, just a few km away, that embraces the breadth of Greek cuisine, with ample vegetarian and pescatarian options. There's also the friendly Nostos Taverna, opposite the church in Tochni, that's popular at weekends. The nearby marina of Zygi has a handful of seafood tavernas, but most were closed when we visited, and it generally seemed run down. We also ate in Kalavasos, a village close to Tochni, where the Retro Tavern and George's Tavern take over the village with their al fresco dining. The food at both is reasonable, but service is slow and vegetarian dishes are limited. Much of the time, we ate in and simply enjoyed soaking up the sun around the pool. Our criticisms are few: the directions to the house require updating, there were login issues with the TV box, and we thought basic housekeeping should be inclusive.

Nice place away from hustle and bustle
An old, renovated and partly new built house, simple, but with everything you need. For two people the place seems too big, as some rooms will hardly be used. I can imagine it would fit better to a family with kids. Costas was very helpful, communication was good throughout. Beautiful beaches are about an hours drive away, but being away from the hustle and bustle is worth it!

Beautiful sunny haven in picturesque village
From the magical moment of opening the arched door at 11pm this house won us! It has charm and ambience in abundance: the wonderful ancient olive tree and the many beautiful plants, the medieval-looking wooden balconies, and the quiet atmosphere. We found space in the house for everyone to find a quiet sunny nook, and for everyone to sit together for meals and enjoy the pool. Thank you Alan we'd love to come again.

Fantastic villa to forget about the rest of the world
Great place with everything you need to spend a vacation with family. The house has stunning facilities, including pool, garden area, upper terrace with sofas to enjoy the breeze of the night, reading room, separate games and TV room, barbecue... The kitchen has basic stuff and more to cook, which was extremely appreciated, and well featured with kitchenware, including a large stove, 2 fridges, micro, dishwasher... The pool is small but great for a family. Everything well taken care of. The location is a tiny village with not much and unfortunately we could not enjoy the old shop cafe because of covid-19 limitations... But still is well located at 30 minute ride from either larnaca beaches or Limassol beaches... Many tavern and fish restaurants at 10-15 minutes drive by the closest beach. Overall, fantastic experience.

Fantastic Villa - Great Holiday - Cannot Fault It!
We recently returned from a 2 week stay at the cobblers in lovely Maroni. What a fantastic property, we loved it! Our group was 4 adults and a 13 month old baby. The property has so much character and you really do feel like you are staying in a piece of history however it has all of the mod cons you would expect including air conditioning in all the main areas of the house. The pool is fantastic and the garden and roof terrace is stunning. We spent many an evening BBQing and chilling with great wine watching the sun set. Alan the owner is great, nothing was a problem, he was very informative and provided us with everything we needed to make our stay perfect. We will certainly be booking again!

A home from home...and then some!
I’d like to start with a remarkable coincidence. A few years ago we were staying in a property in Maroni. I was fascinated by the house next door. It had a raised sun terrace and an arched double door with a peep hole in it. As it appeared to be unoccupied at the time every time I walked by I looked through the peep hole to see if I could make out what was beyond the door. It wasn’t until we had actually finalised the booking that I realised that The Cobblers was that exact place! I couldn’t have possibly imagined what was beyond those doors. It’s truly amazing! We were rather spoiled, having the whole place for just two of us but there is more than enough room and everything you need for full occupancy! Alan was very helpful on the couple of occasions I contacted him with minor queries and responded quickly. We stayed for 10 days but would have loved to stay much longer - could even imagine living there! It was great chatting to Marguerite’s sister who arrived just as we were leaving. She had a large paper bag of still warm savoury pastries with her. Probably not one of my more sensible ideas - driving down those narrow streets while eating a pastry. It was delightful though. We love Cyprus and especially being away from the cities - they are all still a must for a visit though. Staying at The Cobblers made this holiday even more enjoyable. Dave & Chris

Absolutely beautiful villa! From the minute we saw this place we knew it was perfect for us!
The aim of our holiday was total peace, quiet and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of a tourist resort and we were not disappointed! The route through Maroni was lovely, via narrow paved streets – a truly traditional Cypriot village with not too much more than a few streets, a coffee/cocktail bar that opened a few times a week, and a little village shop for essentials The villa itself is superb, from the double sturdy wooden traditional doors that you make you feel like you’re walking into a castle, to the quirky property layout and wonderful roof terrace looking over the village, hills and to sea. We didn’t find ourselves wanting for anything and truly felt like we were staying in someone’s home with all the comfort that we’re used to, without it feeling like temporary holiday accommodation The property is split over 4 levels with entrance hall and kitchen on street level then steps down to the snug, with further steps down to the bedrooms and pool. On the upper level is the snug/living room and at the top is the fabulous roof terrace where we spent much of our time having breakfast while watching the sun come up, and having our evening meals watching the sunset. The pool area was lovely and very private, with welcome shade from the olive tree during the midday sunshine. This area gets the sun from very early morning until around 5pm and from then we went up to the roof terrace where the sun finally disappeared behind the village around 7pm. Re housekeeping, we didn’t have any issues at all and the villa was well stocked with cleaning products, teatowels, dishwasher tablets etc to look after ourselves, however if we had a suggestion it would be that if we were a family we might have struggled with shower and pool towels for 2 weeks as there was no housekeeping during our stay. As it was, we are a couple so we used the spare set from another room but if this hadn’t have been possible we’d have probably had to look at washing them through which isn’t something you necessarily want to do on holiday (although it was so hot they would have dried quickly so no major inconvenience) The kitchen is extremely well stocked and cooking ‘at home’ is very easy and we did this most nights Alan was very quick to answer any questions we had both before and during the visit, and the welcome basket of wine, tea, coffee, butter, bread, water, crisps and fruit was much appreciated and a very nice touch. Thank you so much, we cant wait to return!

Sehr ruhig, kein Verkehr. In Summe: Ein kleines Paradies! Costa der Hausbesorger ist sehr umsichtig und Alan der Besitzer äußerst freundlich. Ein großes Danke!!
