Amazing stay overall
Riad Aliya felt like our home for 6 nights. I don't normally write reviews but I compelled after staying in other riad's in Morocco, we really began to appreciate how amazing this one was. It was mainly the humble hospitality we received from the hotel manager (very genuine man) that made it all worth the stay. The hotel room was very clean and best of all had heat. We went in the end of December, which was quite chilly especially at night.

A haven amongst the mayhem
lovely riad in a quiet but interesting location a 10-15 minute walk from the mayhem of the main square. Thought we'd never find it again in the maze of alleyways but once you've done it once it's ok.

Brilliant Riad in a quiet part of town!
We arrived at Riad Aliya the morning after we were due to arrive and we greeted by one of the lovely members of staff who checked us in and made us a lovely Moroccan breakfast. The riad is only about a 10 - 15 minute walk away from Jamaa el Fnaa square and a 5 minute walk from the Saadian Tombs. For us it felt like a real sanctuary from the chaos that is Marrakech and so could not recommend it enough. We were only there for 3 nights and had a wonderful time including a day tour to the Atlas mountains and waterfalls. I would recommend a day trip to escape the madness of the city.

Amazing service
Located close to the airport and a short (10-15min) walk to the main square/souks. It looks recently renovated so everything is fresh and in good order. The staff were all so welcoming and always available to help. I can't compliment them enough for making our stay so enjoyable. Rooms were good sized, clean and comfortable. There is no TV in the rooms (which wasn't a surprise as I've stayed in riads before) but it would have been nice on a handful of occasions when you come back from being out and just want some downtime in your room. The breakfast was tasty and prepared fresh each morning. We didn't book an airport pickup. Upon arrival there is a taxi stand and the fares are all listed on a large board and the prices are fixed and reasonable. To get around during our stay, walking was fine, but for longer trips taxis are plentiful and cheap from the main street outside the medina. We decided to book an airport transfer from the riad for departure for the convenience of not having to carry our bags to the street where the taxis are. Unfortunately our ‘driver’ walked us from the riad through the medina back to the main street where he had parked his taxi (the same place we could have just walked ourselves and got our own taxi for a fraction of the price). It's not a big thing but we felt a little cheated right at the end by that experience. Don't let this put you off though. Overall we had a great time here and the staff were amazing.

Hospitality at it's best
I booked the transfer service from the airport which was a blessing as many locations in the Medina are difficult to find at night. Upon arriving the Riad was quiet. there was no rush to check in the focus was to have me settled and relaxed in my new environment. They entire time stayed I felt that the Riad was a home away from home. I would definitely recommend this Riad to any travellers.

Not worth staying at this hotel.
We stayed here the night prior to a two day hike in the mountains due to very positive comments we had seen on this sight. However though the staff were initially friendly and engaging we were left disappointed by our stay at this Riad. The morning of our departure, the water had been turned off due to a leakage of some sort. This was done without informing us, apologizing or making other arrangements. We were left without any water for showering and all the staff could say was it was not their fault and hoped we would not write a bad review. There was no attempt at trying to assist in helping make other arrangements, offering a discount or some compensation or added benefit or to help with the situation. eg making arrangements to allow us to bath in another Riad close by. In addition internet access was intermittent and only minimally accessible in the rooms. So while this has several positive points-it was clean and ordered; customer service, with the desire to help with an unexpected problem wasn't there. Definitely not worth the money to stay in this place.

Great for women.
Absolutely amazing. Beautiful, clean, super relaxing. An added bonus is that the hotel is run by women, which was great, especially when it came to taking a dip in the plunge pool in my bikini. Great food, very comfortable, a nice part of town and I would certainly recommend.

A relaxing escape from the streets of the old city
My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely Riad in the Kasbah area of the old city. It was well located, just a few minutes walk from the main square at Djemaa el-Fna, and a short walk/quick taxi away from all of the old city attractions. The Saadian tombs and Kasbah Mosque were at the top of the street. The Riad provided a relaxing, tranquil escape from the busy streets. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly, with lots of local knowledge to help us get the most from our trip. We were welcomed with a delicious pot of mint tea upon arrival. We opted to stay in the brune room on the first floor. It was clean, spacious, and we got a good night's sleep every night. The facilities are good, with a plunge pool in the courtyard, and a lovely rooftop terrace for breakfast/meals, with sun loungers. We were also able to arrange a transfer to/from the airport through the Riad. One of the best aspects of our stay was that the staff were flexible with the timing of breakfast, and check-out. They also recommended a well-priced spa for a hammam/massage that was a short walk up the street. All in all we had a great time, and thoroughly recommend Riad Aliya.

Excellent Riad
We were welcomed warmly and were given prompt, efficient and pre-emptive service. We were provided with useful leaflets for planning out stay upon arrival as well as with complimentary and very excellent fresh mint tea. Staff were polite, obliging and happy to book things/barter on our behalf to get good deals, such as carriage rides and camel riding. They also e-mailed in advance to arrange transfers and provided us with breakfast outside of the usual meal time to accommodate our departure for the return flight. Although the mattress was slightly uncomfortable I would definitely return to this Riad again if I return to Marrakech. The hotel is located about 5 minutes on foot from the main square and is very close to the palaces and Saadian tombs and many spas. Many people we spoke to like to use taxis and carriages but we found the walking distance/time to be very easy to do.

Lovely relaxing traditional riad
Riad Aliya was in a great location, only a ten minute walk from the centre of Marrakech and very near to sights and shops. The airport transfer was worth paying for, as it would have been tricky to find initially. It's a beautiful, relaxing riad with spacious pretty rooms, and the staff were really friendly. Lovely authentic Morrocan breakfast too. Only downsides were a slightly basic shower and no lock on the room's door. Would definitely recommend it, and it was excellent value for money.

Review of Riya Aliya
I thought the look and cleanliness of the hotel was fantastic. The rooms are adequatley sized and tidied everyday. The dining area around the little pool is lovely - much effort made -when we ate there on the first night the table looked beautiful with flowers and rose petals. It was also very quiet as it is hidden in the backstreets. I would strongly advise anyone to take the transfer offered because it is very hard to find otherwise - we were walking around for about 45minutes until someone by chance rescued us and lead us to the door. There is no sign even outside so you will not know you are there even if you do miraculously make it! The hotel staff were so friendly and smiley and very laid back (but not with security) - if you are expecting constant, 5* attention and uniformed staff this would not be the place for you. If you are looking to stay in a comfortable, clean, quiet riya and happy to pass your own time this riya is perfect. I will certainly stay again.

A little sanctuary
It isn't easy to find first up but Riad Aliya is a little sanctuary amongst the crazy bustle that is Marrakech. Looked after by a team of ladies led by Hanin, it is meticulously maintained with attention to detail. The staff are extremely helpful and are happy to work with you to have a great holiday. It is located just off a good food strip close to the Saadian tombs and a 10 minute walk to Djemaa El-Fna. I could recommend this place as great value for money. It is a really nice place and a great place to relax at after a crazy day in Morocco.

Nice hotel
It was a nice experience, clean and the employees were very helpful! Romantic. I must say that there is no label outside for the B&B, so unless you pay the 15 euro for the B&B to arrange a taxi pickup from the airport, you could easily NEVER find the place. (Pay for one yourself on the way back to the airport- the normal price is about 5 euro). The area is very hectic and crazy around it, and I didn't feel that safe at night, trying to go get dinner-which there are not that many places around really close to eat, unless you want to eat vendor food. I loved the hotel, but because of the location I think next time I would stay in the newer part of the city. I will not hold my culture shock against the hotel though. It is a great location if you wish to stay emerged in the middle of the old market. Good Moroccan bread and fresh squeezed juice for breakfast. Again, great service from the staff!!
