This prestigious McLean home spans over 9,000 ft.² and is situated across from a school and a fairly traveled road. However, the presence of trees along the road and the house’s lower position make it surprisingly quiet. Morning traffic noise is noticeable in the front-facing bedrooms but not in the rear ones. The circular driveway is convenient for calling an Uber.
Adam, the responsive host, promptly addressed our concerns. When we pointed out the absence of a mixer or K-cup coffee maker, he promptly ordered them from Amazon.
While the home was once a community gem, it now shows signs of wear and neglect. Various issues include malfunctioning light switches (upper floor hallway lights flicker), non-functional overhead lights in the informal living room (the sole TV location), missing towel racks in the lower floor bathroom, and grimy light switches. Broken baseboards, loose electrical outlet plates, and damaged decorative window framing add to the list.
The pictures don’t accurately represent the current state of the house. Many rooms, especially non-bedrooms on the first floor, are virtually empty. The decks and balustrades need pressure washing, and the back fountain has greenish water due to poor circulation.
The ballroom, as expected, is empty and served as a fun space for our son’s Oculus adventures. Wildlife sightings in the backyard, including deer and foxes, added to the charm.
In all, this rental is ideal for someone who understands its quirks and unique charm
