Skywalk / GCW / Lake Mead / Colorado river home near Meadview

Fantastic view of the Grand Wash Cliffs in the beautiful Joshua Tree high desert, centrally located between Lake Mead (South Cove boat launch is closed due to low water), the Colorado river and the Skywalk / Grand Canyon West.

The Grand Canyon South Rim, Village and North Rim are over 200 miles away. It is a beautiful drive on the famous Rte. 66 from Kingman to Seligman, but it takes at least 4 hours to get to the South Rim.

For same or next day bookings please contact me, might be able to accommodate you.

For little ones: Play 'n Pack and baby gate.

Accessibility: Front and back door parking, entry steps are 2" pavers, no steps inside, and the master bath has pull bars by the toilet.

Aside from the Skywalk (about 45 minutes from the house), this is NOT a tourist area and even on holiday weekends it's rather quiet around here. Meadview has two restaurants, a bar, the Gas n Grub (wine and beer), Family Dollar, Ma's Market (some produce), a little post office, and not much more.

I love living in the desert, watching the sunsets, the stars, and the Milky Way. In spring the wildflowers and cacti may be in full bloom if we get enough winter rains.

If you drive an SUV or a car with good clearance, you can go on a number of dirt roads for magnificent views. But even the smallest rental car will get you to Lake Mead, the Colorado River, and the Skywalk.

Many guests enjoy watching the countless birds, rabbits, and quail (I leave water out for them), but be careful where you step -- we do have rattlesnakes here.

We have brochures for local attractions such as old mining towns, etc. As a resident since 2000, I'll be happy to give you lots more info.

THE HOUSE:

Enjoy this sparkling clean and spacious home with 3 bedrooms and a twin mattress in the master bedroom closet that can be moved to the living room. The new sectional is light, can easily be moved apart and all cushions are removable for extra sleeping space.

The living room has a 42" TV (HDMI etc. and Phoenix channels), DVD player, Bluetooth speaker, and of course, there's WIFI. An android compatible TV and DVD player are in the master bedroom.

I provide organic condiments and staple foods like spaghetti are available for purchase in the Cash Pantry.

You'll find beach towels, blankets, coolers and folding beach chairs in the hallway closets.

4 folding chairs are in the laundry area.

GUEST ACCESS:

Guests may use the entire house. Outside are a propane bbq, patio table and chairs so you can enjoy our beautiful sunrises and sunsets outdoors. Feel free to move additional chairs outside and be comfortable -- enjoy your stay!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

This is the high desert with hot days, cold nights and often strong winds. Please bring clothing for any weather. We are around 3700 ft. elevation, but Lake Mead and the Colorado river are much lower, around 1200 ft. and on sunny days it's warmer at the lake and river. Winter daytime temperatures are usually in the 50s - 60s, but it does freeze at night frequently.

The closest supermarket is in Kingman -- 60 miles away. Meadview has a Family Dollar store and Ma's Market sells produce. The Gas N Grub sells beer, wine and ice cream. Stores close by 7 - 9 pm, depending on the time of year.

I will be happy to answer any questions!

Peaceful and relaxing
What a great house! Just what we were looking for on our family trip to Skywalk Grand Canyon. Plenty of room for our two families, with a master suite on one side of the house and two BR on the other side. Christine is a great host! She happened to just finish tidying up the house when we arrived, and we’re glad she was there! Very friendly and personable. She made us feel welcome and gave some great tips and pointers about the area. She also had left us a nice welcome message with her phone number in case we needed anything. BTW she responds promptly to messages you send on the travel site leading up to your arrival date. I suggest you reach out to her upon arrival if you don’t get the pleasure of meeting her in person. The house was very clean and was well supplied with everything you need. There’s a ‘free pantry’ with complimentary food items, spices, etc. There’s also a ‘cash pantry’ stocked with basics like pasta, sauce, mac and cheese, etc in case you’re hungry and didn’t have a chance to stop at a store before you arrive. If you choose, a store is only a mile or so up the road for more food, snacks, drinks, ice cream, etc. We enjoyed star gazing at night. So quiet and peaceful. The silhouettes of the Joshua trees under the moonlight were wonderfully mystical. Bonus: we saw at least a half dozen falling stars during our 3 night stay :) Thank you again for everything Christine!

Great stay in a quiet location
Beautiful views. Close to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. Very quiet location. The owner was awesome and met us at the house. She made several suggestions of hiking trails, things to do, and where to eat. The house was perfect and the most well stocked house that we have ever rented.

This was the best vacation rental we have ever had. Christine is unbelievably accommodating to her guests. We were able to cook most meals and had everything in the kitchen we needed, from cookware to corn skewers and everything in between. The home is comfortable and extremely clean. All that topped off with majestic views.

Pleasantly surprised!
We checked in late (around 630pm) in December and it was dark. Even then we were able to easily locate and drive up to the property in the dark. This is an immaculately maintained house with everything stocked (beyond you can imagine 😊). Christine is indeed a super host and responded within minutes of us sending our queries, the night sky (when clear) is unmatched to see the whole galaxy! You won’t go wrong with staying here: fantastic location, clean and safe house, fantastic helpful host. Go and enjoy!

We had a beautiful and peaceful time in this house
First of all, I want to say that this is a great location and short distance to the Skywalk at Grand Canyon. It only took us 30 minutes to arrive at the ‘Check in’ area and less than 10 minutes to the parking area. The house faces the back of Grand Canyon which was totally unexpected for a such location. To tell you the truth, while I was driving to the house, I was thinking to myself: Oh boy, what have I done booking this house in this barren wasteland. My thoughts changed in a matter of few hours while we were sitting outside in the evening enjoying the scenery. Wow, our whole family felt like it was what it would be like to be in space. We even didn’t want to talk loudly because of the quietness. My 12 years girl said, Mom here is so beautiful and quiet in its own way. The house is nothing fancy but was very comfortable and clean. Everything we needed was provided. Pros: (1) Details instruction from using the house to an energy situation (2) Kitchenware, towels, sandwich bags, garbage bags were incredibly complete (3) Back up storage dry food, waters and etc. (4) Bedroom is very clean and includes a load of pillows, summer and winter blankets (5) Ceiling fans, standing fans, tissue, paper towels, liquid soaps everywhere (6) Air condition, laundry room, and extra folding chairs (7) Flashlights, lamps, umbrellas, and much more (8) Outside BBQ and dining table and chairs Cons: (1) No stores around you. You need to bring in your own food Location: (1) 30 – 40 minute drive to Skywalk Grand Canyon (2) 30-minute drive to ‘South Cove’ and it is one of the park’s lesser-known getaways if you want to launch onto Colorado River / Lake Mead (3) Beautifully view the back of Grand Canyon (4) Excellent star glazing and watch the sunset I would highly recommend this location for people who want to get away from the noisy city life and to enjoy nature at its finest. Great place to get out of Vegas.
Everything was perfect about our stay. Christine was a great host and we are very grateful that she let us use her place. The location is very rural, but it was close to the Skywalk, and there were some nearby hikes and we were less than 1 hour from several very nice hikes. Even though it snowed while we were there, my wife and I had a great time sitting outside with a bottle of wine looking at the sky watching for shooting stars!
