Comfortably Chic Loft-Style, Pet Friendly, Mentone's Favorite Couple's Retreat

Opened Oct 2022 to rave reviews. High end style, comfort, woods view plus walking distance to Mentone's shops & restaurants. Unique open floor plan, firepit, outdoor shower, soaking tub, gas fireplace!
Perfect for couples, especially honeymooners or celebrating anniversaries, birthdays! Created with remote workers in mind. Guest room: Queen Murphy bed & drop down desk makes the space perfect for an office. Plenty of storage in the expertly equipped kitchen w/ gas range. Main room consists of a queen bed w/ soaking tub, living room with gas fireplace, 55" TV, kitchen & dining. Comfortable deck with rocker, hightop dining table for 2. Firepit comes with a supply of wood and starter log.
This cabin is 1 of 3 rental cabins on our property of 12 acres. You will feel like you are in the middle of the woods YET you are only a couple of "blocks" away from Mentone's Log Cabin Village, The Wildflower Cafe (.3 miles) , Elevation Bistro (.4 miles) & Mentone Market (.4 miles) .
Even the most discerning travelers are in awe of this space. Most call it MAGICAL. Winking Owl is unlike any other Lookout Mountain experience.
On Saturdays, you can walk to Mentone's Farmer Market, next to the Mentone Inn (.2 mile walk) & have lunch @ Fontastic Food Truck (slow cooking, worth the wait!). Friday's Farmers Market is a longer walk or drive to Little River Hardware.
Brow Park is a .7 mile walk.
DeSoto Falls is 3.1 miles or less than a 10-minute drive.
DeSoto State Park is 8.6 miles or 15-20 minutes' drive.
Little River Canyon Center is an 18-mile or 27-minute drive.
You may see turkey, deer, groundhogs, or even a bear walking through the woods.

We loved everything about our trip. We are so thankful we chose this property. Everything about it was wonderful! It was the first time traveling with our Chocolate Lab. This place was perfect for him as well. We hope to be back very soon.

Mentone get-a-way
The property was great! The only negative was it advertises that it's walking distance to the down town. The road you have to walk on has no walk path or sidewalk. It felt a little dangerous.

Perfect cabin for a peaceful getaway!
The cabin was clean and beautifully decorated. It had everything you could need to enjoy your stay. The host went above and beyond. Loved relaxing on the porch and listening to nature. We will definitely come back again.

Wonderful place to stay, about 15 minutes from Fort Payne. Owner was very responsive and even left some pamphlets of things to do and places to go in the area. Would definitely stay again if given the opportunity!

Perfect location and beautifully decorated
We were a little hesitant to book because there are other places fairly close together. But, they thought of everything and arranged it so that it is still private enough you can sit by the fire pit in your PJs. We had a wonderful time at this super cute place.

Great place for a quick getaway!
My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend. We didn’t arrive until after dark and the house was brightly lit for our arrival. The motion censored lights outside were a plus as it’s very dark. Cabin itself was clean, decorated well, and has new appliances. Convenient to all the things in Mentone. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

Big Hoot for the Winking Owl!
Can't say enough good things about the Winking Owl! Charming cabin with great attention to detail. Excellent location--8 minute drive to DeSoto Falls for hiking, about 5 minutes to downtown Mentone, and the Murphy bed is so cool!! If you're on the fence, jump on down to the Owl's side. You won't be disappointed!

Charming and cozy weekend stay
This cabin is newly built with love! The personal touches everywhere really made it feel like home. The kitchen was spacious and perfect for cooking up all the fresh meat and goodies we purchased at the farmers market. Fire wood was provided so make sure to bring your s’more ingredients! We also brought our dogs and they had a great time exploring the woods surrounding the cabins. Overall it was a charming stay in Mentone and we can’t wait to come back.

The cabin was super clean and absolutely adorable. The woodwork throughout the cabin was impressive, and the pictures do not do this place justice. Great ambient lighting. Lovely porch and sitting area outside with hammock and fire pit. Super peaceful. Great location 2 mins from center of town. Can’t wait to come back when it’s warmer outside.

We had such a lovely stay at Winking Owl! It’s beautiful & so cozy comfortable! Juli & Pat are stellar hosts!! Coffee & reading on the porch, wine by the fire pit, movies in front of the gas fire, great hikes, cute town, stellar sunset from the Brow Park. Wow! We’ll be back!

Wonderful little cabin that feels far off but is a 5 minute walk to downtown and the farmers market. Clean and cozy. Lots of natural light, but stayed dark enough for us to sleep in. We will definitely stay again.
