Mississauga Civic Centre showing an administrative building, interior views and modern architecture

Much more than just another administrative building, this is the focal point of a city that welcomes diverse cultures and an active lifestyle.

Admire a collection of mesmerizing local artwork, have a delicious restaurant lunch and exercise in the gym at the Mississauga Civic Centre. Relax watching the clouds float by in the reflection pool outside while business workers hurry back and forth from their offices.

The civic center is part of an impressive post-modern architectural delight. Geometric shapes include a cylinder for the city council chambers, a tall clock tower obelisk and a glass pyramid atop the Grand Hall.

Stop at the Art Gallery of Mississauga that makes up most of the structure’s ground level. Exhibits change regularly, with canvas paintings, abstract pieces and sculptures all designed to encourage local people to interact with artwork.

For exercise, head to the fourth floor fitness center. Enjoy a range of state-of-the-art equipment or talk to a trainer about how to get the best results from your workout sessions. Rent one of the squash courts for several games.

After a quick shower, head to the center’s own café for refreshment. Soak up the lively, atmosphere while you enjoy a light lunch and a cold drink. For something a little more formal, select from a wide-ranging menu served daily, with delicious fish and meat dishes prepared fresh.

With the sun shining, move outside to the spacious courtyard area, the 97,000-square-foot (9,000-square-meter) City Square. Put your feet up and relax in the afternoon warmth while children splash their hands in the shallow pool. Come in the winter when the pool freezes over and becomes an excellent ice rink for skaters of all ages.

The Mississauga Civic Centre is located in the heart of the city, just north of City Hall and the Central Library. Enjoy free admission to the gallery or make a much-appreciated donation to support continuing artistic efforts in the community. Cross the street to the Living Arts Centre for additional cultural enrichment and enjoyment.
