Paddle kayaks in the calm, clear waters off the beach at Puerto de Mogán or take a unique sightseeing ride beneath the water in a yellow submarine. Shop for bags and handmade jewelry at the small stores in town and enjoy fresh fish at one of the many superb restaurants overlooking the bay.
Escape the hustle and bustle of Gran Canaria’s busier resorts and immerse yourself for a day or two in the peaceful atmosphere of Puerto de Mogán. Cross waterways via colorfully decorated iron bridges to find boutique shops or quaint riverside cafés. If you are here on a Friday visit the weekly market in the plazas by the marina. Here you can bargain for T-shirts and hats and browse handcrafted jewelry.
Follow a morning stroll around town with a peaceful afternoon on the beach. Rent Jet-Skis and kayaks to get out on the water or just relax on the soft sand. This is one of a handful of beaches on the island that has been created using sand specially imported from the Sahara Desert.
The beach at Puerto de Mogán is sheltered by a small harbor where fishing boats and lavish yachts stay sheltered from the breaking Atlantic waves outside the bay. Spot fish swimming next to the breakwater. Be sure to take a ride on the yellow submarine that launches nearby. During your 45-minute underwater adventure you will spot colorful fish and get close to an old shipwreck.
Once you arrive back at the harbor, head to one of the cafés or restaurants that line the promenade in Puerto de Mogán. Taste delicious tapas or try a selection of international menus nearby.
Puerto de Mogán is located on the southwest coast of Gran Canaria. Drive here from Gran Canaria's capital city, Las Palmas, in under an hour and stay at one of the luxurious beachfront hotels.
