Stone villa with swimming pool on a panoramic terrace in a small village in the heart of Monferrato. Beautiful open space kitchen overlooking the swimming pool and BBQ area. The Scottish owners, in addition to giving their name to the house, made this ancient property their home after a respectful restoration. The villa is spread over 3 floors with old steep stairs, as well as offering a small annex apartment on the other side of the swimming pool. Unforgettable sunsets from the terrace for romantic dinners or with friends and family! About 40 minutes' drive from the area begins the Langhe of Asti and the Alba area which together with Monferrato have been classified as a UNESCO heritage site. For those looking for tastings in the Ovada area there are many good producers of Dolcetto, while in the Asti and Alba areas you can find the excellent Barbera, Barolo and Barbaresco wines and the famous white truffle. About 1 and a half hours drive from the main airports (Turin, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa), the property is also very convenient for day trips in Liguria. Portofino, Camogli and the 5 Terre are just over 1 hour away by car; or if you prefer shopping, the McArthurGlen Outlet in Serravalle Scrivia, one of the largest in Europe, is just 40 minutes away.
The Bormida valley is an enchanting place between the hills of Monferrato and the Langhe. Mostly covered by vines and woods, our area is within the UNESCO area. There are many places of interest just a few kilometers away, such as Le Langhe (the villages of Barolo and Barbaresco) but also Acqui Terme, where you can find all the services, Canelli and Asti. This area is renowned for its wines and the Alba White Truffle. Barbera, Barolo, Dolcetto, Brachetto, Barbaresco to name the most famous wines, this area is the paradise of Piedmontese culinary excellence (SlowFood was born here). You can visit most of the vineyards and buy the wine directly from the producer at very affordable prices or visit many wonderful restaurants that serve our specialties, the White Truffle (in season), Robiola di Roccaverano, fresh local pastas (ravioli al Plin), veal with tuna sauce or meat from the famous Fassona breed. Another important activity in our areas is road cycling and mountain biking. Beautiful routes that climb up to the peaks of our hills, where you will normally find a village with a castle and an excellent restaurant or family trattoria. Main events in the area, certainly October with the truffle fair and September, in the nearby BRA, the world cheese fair, but also the Ligurian fairs in Spring for the fish excellence of Liguria. Very close (1.20 hours by car), Genoa certainly deserves a day-trip to visit the largest aquarium in Europe or its historic centre. Finally Acqui Terme, which is the closest location to the property. Just 2.5KM away you will find many restaurants and bars with the city's nightlife for evening strolls or an aperitif. Furthermore, the wellness centers and spas of the ''Lago delle Sorgenti'' centre. Finally, an area of architectural art: the historic center of Acqui Terme is considered one of the most beautiful in Piedmont with its Roman ruins and late medieval and Renaissance buildings. Monferrato and the Langhe are the land of castles very often at the top of our hills, almost always converted into restaurants or home to wine bars or museums.
