"Sad to report there was a houseless person in the pool area with all her belongs who proceeded to bath her self in the hot tub while trying to enjoy some time with my daughter and husband. She was talking to herself and at times we thought she may not emerge from going under. She was clearly under the influence and taking to herself and Felt unsafe. Another guest reported it to the office and they did not remove her, just asked is she was ok and left. We left because it was uncomfortable went back to the room decided to roast s’mores and order some food at the fire pits. Look over and who is there the same house less lady drying herself and changing out of her wet clothes at the fire. Again talking to herself and agitated. Sorry she is in that situation but we paid a lot to enjoy the space and amenities and could not as we felt super uncomfortable. The staff should have asked her to leave when they came to check and clearly knew she was not a guest. We’ve been coming to this hotels for the last 18 years and this changed our whole experience "

"The Monterey Hotel is excellent value for money, in a great location five minutes from Old Fisherman's Wharf. The decor could do with a bit of TLC, but it was clean and comfortable and well equipped. "

"The area was perfect! If you’re not looking for anything fancy, but clean and convenient with great staff, this is the place to stay. My only complaint, which is not really a complaint, is there was no body soap in the shower. Other than that, I would recommend and stay there 100 more times. "

"Everything is automated from the check in to the turn down service request to check out. The bedroom needs an extra mirror. My room was a queen and we only had a mirror in the bathroom. Plenty of parking and everything was clean "
