"This was our favorite hotel on this trip. The staff was amazing and responsive via Expedia contact. Great breakfast. Worth paying for. It was within a walking distance to the next town Saint Vincent. We loved the balconies. The only feedback we have is to get more thick pillows. The pillows were pretty thin."

"Breakfast was amazing! The room was so cozy and the location was great. It was right on the corner so finding it was easy. Keep in mind there isn’t parking directly on site. It’s about 4 euro a night and the garage is about a 5 minute walk. I loved this hotel so much! We also took advantage of the hotels spa and it was wonderful!"

"Nice small flat in the mountain village of Antagnod, Ayas valley, with basic kitchen and very good bathroom. The flat is excellent for short stay; since it is a bit small, it may not be suitable for longer stay."

"This hotel was really relaxing. Clean with beautiful views from the balcony. Only down side was the restricted menu for an evening meal (was out of season) but plenty of restaurants within a 10 minute drive. Electric sockets are non standard so wont except normal European plug changer so if you want to charge mobile or tablet etc it is a problem."

"Amazing hotel for families! Has everything you need for children and one of the few hotels I’ve found that has two bedroom rooms. Will definitely return. Stayed during the summer and looking forward to seeing what it’s like at winter."

"The hotel respected all my expectation. The internal structure in wood gives you a sensation of heat and makes you feel good. The room is spacious and clean, the breakfast is rich and with good varieties, the staff is very kind and professional. The restaurant is good with excellent dishes. We also went to sauna which although is small is good. Since I skied, I had a private shuttles service from the hotel to the cable way. I hope to come back!"

"Zermatt’s best-kept secret. Nestled in the middle of the Zermatt Matterhorn, this 170 year old hotel integrates modern amenities while maintaining its historical roots along with breathtaking views. Riffelhaus 1853 does not disappoint and often leaves the guest with a once-in-a-lifetime experience and incredibly lucky for such a hotel to exist. It houses only 25 rooms/suits allowing for the staff to give you more personalized attention. Unlike most 170 year old hotels, Riffelhaus 1853 does an amazing job integrating modern amenities. The rooms and bathrooms were very modern with a sense of alpinist style unique to the locality. The rooms were average sized for the price; however, most guest come for the amazing view and location of this hotel rather than the size of the room. The reputation of the Riffelhaus’ Wellness Center and Spa experience is what originally motivated me to book this stay. This may be the crown jewel of the property as there is no other place like this in Zermatt. Their hot tub perched at the top of about 2582 meters overlooking the Matterhorn and the whole of Zermatt is the most beautiful in the entire area. I challenge anyone else to provide pictures of a better hot tub view. People from all over the world travel just for this experience. The large dry sauna faces a wall of glass from the ceiling to the floor that overlooks the Matterhorn and Alps and situates multiple people comfortably. "

"Loved the breakfast, really great options, above and beyond. Staff courteous and helpful without being overly warm and welcoming. The hot tub/spa is 25 euros per person for 2 hours, honestly this is way too expensive and not clear on hotel listing. The room was spacious with a good view and amenities, loved the little coffee machine.The area itself is very lively with lots to see and do within an easy walk of the hotel."

Amazing location - 2nd to none

"Overall fantastic - views are second to none. The hiking around the area is unreal and it’s great to be there before the first train and tourists descend. Dinner was amazing and servers were extremely attentive. Only feedback is that for the price they could have proper coffee machines in the room! Small thing but in other cheaper hotels there were real coffee machines whereas this was cheap sachets… with nothing else around it would be nice to have a proper coffee. Everything else was amazing and worth it for the location and food"
