For those seeking a private sanctuary the loft bedroom is tucked away on the second floor, the large Velux windows affording views across the bay to Dunstanburgh Castle, with a sofa and footstool it is the perfect place for peace and relaxation with a good book.

The property is conveniently situated just 100 yards from the harbour and is directly on the Coastal Cycle Route and there is bike storage available in the fully enclosed rear yard. Amble known as the friendliest port in Northumberland, is close to beautiful beaches and many nearby attractions. It still has a working fishing harbour and makes for a lively and interesting place to stay. There are boat trips out to Coquet Island, managed by the RSPB to see the puffins and roseate terns and there are also seals around the island and sometimes you will see them in the harbour. The high street is peppered with independent shops and tea rooms and there is a local Sunday market situated on the harbour and a small harbour village housing mini shopping pods each with something different to buy.

The little beach has some pretty beach huts you can rent for a few pounds from the harbour master and there are superb restaurants nearby, some specialising in seafood. On a summer’s day you can sit outside the fish restaurants in the harbour, enjoying a glass of wine and taking in the view and bustling ambience. The picture postcard village of Warkworth is just a couple of miles away, with its historic castle dominating the skyline. Enjoy riverside walks or amble down the high street where you will find shops, galleries, coffee shops and restaurants. Amble sits at the start of the Northumberland Heritage Coast Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, from here you can travel on up to Seahouses, a typical seaside village, or Bamburgh with a large castle open to the public in the summer. Just a few miles away is Alnwick Castle, used in some Harry Potter and Downton Abbey scenes, or the stunning Alnwick gardens. Wander around some of the cobbled streets and have a coffee in Barter Books, one of the largest book stores in England and well worth a visit. Travel down the coast to Tynemouth and Whitley Bay, where a pretty promenade stretches along for lovely walks with plenty of wine bars and bistros to visit. There is something for everyone in this diverse county, whether it be coast or country. Beach 500 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Great to have all en-suite bedrooms and the catering facilites better than we have at home. Although the location is perfect for dining out we also used the facilities for cooking and baking for 7 people and found every utensil to hand. There is so much to see and do locally and up to 1hr drive away. The welcome pack was more than ample, the towels were top quality and the beds were very comfy. A perfect fot for a large family group.

We wanted to celebrate 2 special birthdays for our friends, and also needed a property large enough to accommodate us all. The property was extremely spacious, well equipped, comfortable with everyone having their own bathroom facilities .The location was very good , close to the harbour , pubs and restaurants, which as we had one of our group with walking difficulties was essential. We would recommend the wonderful fish and chip shop literally across the road and the Italian restaurant La Familia on the Main Street, the food was delicious. It was the perfect place and location, as it offered everything we required for our celebration. We would definitely recommend it, the owner even provided local milk ,eggs and other goodies in a welcome pack, which was a nice touchJust a great weekend in a lovely surroundings Thanks Tracey

Immediate impressions of the location and interior downstairs was a little underwhelming and looked a little ‘tired’ and cluttered compared to the photo in the listings. We also felt the dining room was very exposed to the street and would suggest adding frosted glass to the lower half of the windows. However, we were impressed with the bedrooms and en suite facilities. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped, if the layout was rather cramped and awkward for a large group property. All of the above is intended as constructive suggestions. Overall we really enjoyed our stay in the house and exploring the local area.
