Ski through forests coated by magical Canadian snowfall, trek through gorgeous valleys and try traditional pastries at this four-season destination.

Experience exhilarating snow sports and adventure on an island in the Canadian Pacific, at Mount Washington Alpine Resort. This resort offers skiing, trekking and hiking activities throughout the year in a locale bounded by the Strait of Georgia on one side and the expansive wilderness of Strathcona Park on the other.

Bring your powder skis or snowboard to the slopes of the Mount Washington ski resort. The 5,210-foot (1,588-meter) peak receives an impressive annual snowfall of 38 feet (12 meters). Carve fresh tracks through fluffy backcountry powder or take the kids to easy slopes at the mountain base.

Head to the Rockstar Terrain Park to watch experienced freestylers launching off huge jumps and getting tricky on long rails. Find beginner jumps, rails and boxes at the Easy Acres Terrain Park. Return to the resort’s base lift on Thursday through Sunday evenings to try night skiing.

Enjoy a range of Nordic activities at Raven Lodge, located near Strathcona Park. Toboggan down the frosty slopes on traditional Nordic sleds. Cross-country ski along 34 miles (55 kilometers) of groomed trails through the serene forestlands. Alternatively, take a snowshoe trek through the wilderness, spotting local birds and elk. After some strenuous exercise, revitalize your body at the massage center.

In summer, explore a mountain landscape that transforms from snow white to varied greens. Ride the Mile High scenic chairlift to the summit of Mount Washington and experience panoramic views of Vancouver Island. Hike the challenging West Summit Ridge trail.

In the evenings, enjoy a hearty meal accompanied by live music at Ted’s Bar and Grill before playing a round of mini golf. Be sure to try a beavertail, a stretched fried dough treat, topped with sugar and sweet condiments. Beavertails are only available in winter.

Mount Washington is located on the west coast of Canada, on Vancouver Island. Fly from Vancouver to Comox before driving or catching a bus to the resort. Stay in slope-side chalets and lodges for easy access to the ski runs.
