Our Gruene River House and Cabin is located within the Gruene Historic District only 0.4 miles up-river from the Gruene Road Bridge that crosses over the Guadalupe River, providing access to the Gruene Old Town Center of the Gruene Historic District - with famous Gruene Hall, the Gristmill Restaurant, and many more shops, restaurants, and entertainment possibilities. If Walking from our Property, the Gruene Historic District is less than a Mile!
Our Secluded Custom-Built Gruene River House and Cabin on the Guadalupe River, is located on a Heavily-Wooded 1-Acre Property in the Gruene Historic District, on a beautiful 140-Foot Span of the Guadalupe Riverfront. Over 100 Feet of Decks and Patio Spaces are available with the Large Upstairs Deck, and an equally Large Shaded Downstairs Patio, both of which overlook the Guadalupe River with an unobstructed view of the Heavily-Treed Riverbanks and Undeveloped Cliff-Sides.
The Large Riverfront Yard is shaded by huge Cypress, Pecan, Cedar Elm, Monterrey Oak, and Live Oak trees, and is perfect for outdoor gatherings, especially with the Group Seating Areas and the Large Stone Fire-Ring (Firewood and Fire-Starters Provided and plenty of lightweight Adirondack Chairs for gathering around). We have Outdoor Dining Areas, both on the Upper Deck and the Lower Patio, with 3 Tables and 16 Chairs. There are also Lightweight Adirondack Chairs stacked on the Downstairs Patio that can be moved anywhere, including the yard, table-side, and even into the shallows of the Guadalupe River for cooling off.
A Large Combination Off-Set Grill/Smoker is located on the Downstairs Patio, facing the Guadalupe River, with Self-Starting Charcoal, Firewood, Barbecue Tools, and plenty of Spices and Rubs provided. Additionally, a Large Propane Grill is located on the Upper Deck, facing the Guadalupe River and closest to the Kitchen, with an Extra Propane Tank (under the Kitchen Sink), Barbecue Tools, and a Full Spice Rack in the Kitchen.
We offer plenty of Water Recreation Equipment, including 4 Kayaks w/Paddles and Life-Vests (2 - three person, 1 - two person, and 1 - 1 person Kayaks, for a total of 9 on the water simultaneously), Inner-Tubes, Float Noodles, various Yard Games, Fishing Poles, and Tackle. If your Group is interested in River Recreation Activities, you'll be particularly interested in reading further. We have a unique Float Trip Service that is ideal for large groups, and it's not only extremely convenient, but it actually reduces the cost of approaching the River Outfitters yourselves and organizing your own trip!
Here's a description of the Bedroom and Bathroom configurations for the Gruene River House and the Gruene River Cabin:
The Gruene River House Main Level is adjacent to our Front Door, Driveway, and Parking Area that can accommodate up to 10 vehicles, and includes 3 Bedrooms, our Rec-Room, and the Huge Great Room (Living Room, Dining Room, and Large Fully- Furnished Gourmet Kitchen combination area). The Great Room has vast expanses of Guadalupe River Views, and is open to the Gourmet Kitchen and Living Room containing the Double-Sided Fireplace that opens into the Gourmet Kitchen and Living Room. There is an 10-person Dining Table, a 6-person Bar-Height Dining Table, and a 2-Person Bar Dining Area. The Living Room has seating for 9 +10, when using the Dining Seating. The Kitchen has seating for 8. Additionally, the Rec-Room has Dining Seating for 4 and total seating for 13.
The Gruene River House has 6 bedrooms, 3 of which have King-Size Beds and Full Bathrooms. 2 Downstairs King Bedrooms have a single Pop-Up Bed underneath each King-Size Bed, as well as an additional Single Bed, accommodating a total of 4 in each bedroom, with an adjoining Full Bathroom. Downstairs there is also an additional Roll-Away Bed and bedding/pillow for another person. The Upstairs Master King Bedroom contains a King Bed, a Single Day-Bed, with an additional Single Pop-Up Bed beneath, and an additional Single Bed. The Master Bedroom can accommodate a total of 5, and has a Full Bathroom with separate Shower and Bathtub. The other 3 Bedrooms in the Main House, consist of one with a Queen-Size Bed (accommodates 2), one with a Bunk-Bed Set as well as a Single Day-Bed, with a Single Pop-Up Bed beneath it (accommodates 4), and our Rec-Room which doubles as an additional Queen Bedroom, with a Queen Sleeper Futon a large Leather Single Sleep Sofa with bedding, and an adjoining Half-Bathroom. Lastly, the Great Room has 2 large Single Leather Sleep Sofas complete with bedding, to accommodate an additional 2 persons. Upstairs, there is an additional Roll-Away Bed and bedding. The Gruene River House will accommodate a total of 26 persons, if there are couples in every King and Queen bed. If all beds are slept in singly, the Gruene River House will accommodate 21.
The Gruene River Cabin contains a King-Size Bed, with a Full Private Bathroom. A rustic cedar privacy fence surrounds the property, with a Private Deck and Outdoor Seating, a Chargrill Infrared Grill (Extra Propane Tank and Grill Tools provided), a Private View of the surrounding wooded landscaped walkways, and a Stone Fire-Ring (firewood provided). The Gruene River Cabin has been completely updated, since it's original construction as a 1940's Guadalupe River Fishing Cabin, the only structure originally present on the property that was deeded by German Immigrants in the late 1800's. This is a favorite with our Guests interested in a bit of peace & quiet, secluded from the rest of their group in the Gruene River House. The Gruene River Cabin has it's own Mid-Sized Refrigerator/Freezer, Microwave, Toaster, and plenty of disposable cups, plates, plastic-ware, napkins, and paper towels, etc. for convenience. It also has it's own Full Coffee Service with 4-Cup Coffee-Maker, 4-Cup Convenience Coffee Paks, Creamers, and Sweeteners. There is an Indoor Electric Fireplace with Optional Heat, and TV/DVD/CD player. There is also a 2-Seat Bistro Table inside the Cabin for Dining or to be used as a Desk.
In combination with the Gruene River House, the entire Property can Accommodate up to 28, which is our State and County-Enforced Maximum Occupancy per our Accommodations Permit.
For both the Gruene River House and the Gruene River Cabin, we provide all linens, pillows and bedding, towels, hand-towels, washcloths, body soaps, hand soaps, shampoos and conditioners. Additionally, in the Gourmet Kitchen, we provide Whole Coffee Beans, Grinder, Convenience Filter Coffee Paks (12-cup), Coffee Filters, 2-12 Cup Coffee-Makers, a French Press, Teas, & Cocoa. Plenty of Disposable Cups, Paper Plates, Plastic Silverware, Napkins, and Paper Towels, are provided in order to avoid washing dishes. We offer a Full Spice Cabinet, with plenty of spices, rubs, oils, and vinegars, etc.
Our Property is a High-Demand, Exclusive, Waterfront Rental, and as you may expect, most of our Reservations are from Repeat Guests who stay with us each year at the same time. For this past year over 200 dates were Reserved, and all 52 of our Weekends and all Holidays have been Reserved every year for the past 13 years, so Reservations will occur at any moment.
To get you started with your plans, here is some fun information about the immediate area where our Property is located:
"Float Trip to the Backyard". This is the most Scenic and Convenient Float Trip available. We have special arrangements with a Local River Outfitter for Personalized Curbside Service to our Property, avoiding lines, parking, and fees. Our Outfitter comes to our Property and takes Guests Up-River in a Private Van with all the pre-arranged equipment and coolers, to a selection of starting-points, providing for a 4, 6, or 8-hour Float Trip. The Float Trip ends in our Backyard, where the River Outfitter staff will collect the equipment. Since we send so many Groups to the Outfitters, they convey a unique discount directly to our Guests, as a courtesy. The location of the Gruene River House and Cabin, will enable you take a Float Trip that begins and ends in Comal County, and IS NOT affected by the restrictive City of New Braunfels River Ordinances, related to disposable cans and drink containers, cooler sizes, etc.
