"You have to understand you're staying in a heritage building, within a town centre, above a busy, excellent pub/resteraunt. To some extent, the bedroom is a secondary consideration. "We loved our stay, the room was lovely and there was nice touches such as the chocolate and nice coffee. We enjoyed our breakfast in the morning. The only down side is the evening meal and drinks are on the pricey side, £13 for a double gin and lemonade (I am aware there is not much competition in otterburn). The meal was nice though and the staff were so lovely and accomodating :)."

"Lovely hotel and very nice staff. Very conveniently located in the town and for visiting the castle. We gave 4 stars for 2 reasons: 1) although they allow dogs in the rooms, they're not allowed in the breakfast room so they suggested we either left our dog in our room on her own (which we did and she barked continuously) or we breakfast separately - most places have a dog-friendly eating area; and 2) parking is quite a challenge. Otherwise, a lovely stay."

"It was a pleasant stay after visiting Alnwick Gardens. The room was about average size but walk up on third floor. The room was clean and as usual air conditioning was provided by opening the window. Parking is available but not for the faint of heart if you are not used to driving in the UK. Would consider staying there again if we are ever in the area."

"We stayed 2 nights in the Curlew hut for my partners birthday. We got luck and had really clean crisp autumnal days, which gave amazing views of the dark skies. The hut had everything we needed for the break but much longer than a couple of nights might be a bit trying. Hot tub took about 2 hours to warm up and was still warm the next day. Great location close to Cragside which we highly recommend."

"This is a beautiful property in a lovely location and we’ve enjoyed both times we’ve stayed here but we were disappointed that the property has not been maintained as well as it could be since our previous visit. No wood / kindling for the fire, lots of dead flies in the kitchen, a poor mix of crockery, only 2 saucepans that work with the induction hob, a number of radiators didn’t work etc. All little things that are easily fixed and hopefully will be for the next visitors."
