This 1.9-ton (1,700-kilogram) drill bit is one of the largest in the world. Head to the North Sea Divers exhibit to learn about Norway’s pioneers of deep sea exploration. Inspect models of diving bells and protective vessels they used to work on the seabed.
Watch films and see models recreating historic accidents in the offshore oil industry, which resulted in massive ecological damage and loss of life. Inspect a replica lifeboat from an oil rig, which can fit over 50 people, and watch safety procedures that are designed to prevent these accidents from happening again.
Jump down a replica escape chute for an exhilarating experience of life as an oil rig worker. Head to the kids’ corner to let the children join the crew on the museum’s drilling rig. Stop at the Petrorama to see a wide view of Norway’s oil history.
