"I had a really comfortable stay at Route-Inn. The room is nice and bed comfy. The breakfast buffet was superb and there are lots of options for affordable dining close by. It is a bit of a walk to get to the train station and some bus stops but I was able to get everywhere I needed just fine. "

"The hotel is beautifully designed using readily available materials such as paper tubes for chairs and bed heads. The hotel room is spacious with attention to details. However the walls between rooms seem thin and we could hear our next door neighbour knocking around, we could also hear the guests upstairs running in the room (should be the kids), and kids screaming in the corridor. "You have to understand the area you are in, and this is pretty rural Japan. So, for such an area this was a great hotel. Clean, helpful staff, very good breakfast included. And, hot bath area if that is your thing. Perfect location right by the station but super quiet. The beds are traditional Japan style so VERY firm. We enjoyed our stay!!"

"新年で山形に過ごして良かったです。お忙しい中で色々なものを用意してくれてありがとうございました。サービスの皆は明るくて、親切な気持ちを感じました。部屋から雪と川も見えてすごく綺麗でした。そして、朝食と夕食も美味しくいただきました。ですが、スリッパはちょっと薄い気がしました。(外れやすかったです) また、山形県に行くときに泊まりたいです。二日間でありがとうございました。 "

"I really adored this place, and it was very conveniently located for day trips into Ginzan Onsen. The room was clean and affordable and in exchange for environmentally clean services we were given free beer or chuhai and breakfast vouchers. The hotel also has a nice public bath which worked wonders after a day walking in the cold. And honestly the chains sheep mascot was really cute; this place was just very charming for a place so far out in Japan. I will stay here the next chance I get."

"Be careful to choose smoking room or non-smoking room. Non smoking floors are filled with smell, if you don’t choose non-smoking room they will automatically put you into smoking room. For its price it is good enough. "

"We stayed here for a week while visiting our daughter who lived nearby. The staff were friendly, and polite. No problem with communication even though I do not speak Japanese. I really enjoyed their breakfast buffet. The view of the mountains from the room can't be beat. I agree with one review that said the toilet in the reception is the best toilet I have been to in Japan, as crazy as that may sound. Highly recommend!"
