"The hosts should consider a smoother check in and check out procedure. There was a general lack of effective communication. The layout was a bit unusual with one full bathroom next to the kitchen and not near either of the main bedrooms. We only found out about a third bedroom into our stay. The property also had several expense items that are unusual including having to rent and pay extra for linens and requiring a security deposit refundable by the host after an inspection on check out. "The country setting near Otranto was stunning with sunrise views and great outdoor spaces. The indoor facilities were more rustic but comfortable in keeping with the rural nature of the property. Parking and easy access to Otranto and surrounding areas was a plus. The hostess was gracious and attentive to our concerns. The quick laundry service was a definite plus. Our only issue was the wind in March/early April kept us from fully enjoying the great outdoor area. Later Spring or early Fall...

"We loved the location across from the Castle. It had great walking trails all around the structure, down to the Marina and into the Old Town. The hosts were very responsive to make our check in easy. Tho we never met them in person, they were quick to respond to any questions. Spacious unit. Only a small balcony but a great view. "Paolo's place is in an excellent location for visiting Otranto and explore the local sites and swimming in the bay. It is a very short walk to the entrance of old town and still an easy walk to the beaches in the bay. Our car never moved from the parking spot provided while we were there. And with it being up on the hill we opened front and back door in the evening to let the evening breeze flow through the unit as we sat in the private court yard. "

The restaurant is good, but DO NOT order room service…it’s better to schedule your meals for better value and quality. The spa, kids club, pools, cabanas and work out facilities were wonderful as well. The staff was most delightful. I highly recommend!"

Plan Carefully

"My first impressions were that this is a well- appointed and sophisticated resort. The design is beautiful, but be aware that the entire resort is terraced off into multiple levels, so there is lots of stairs. However, there are some strategically located elevators for those that have trouble navigating flights of stairs. My stay was during the first weekend of October 2024 and little did I know, that this is already considered the “off-season“. While that means more affordable lodging rates, it also means a muted vibe and a reduced level of services I’d expect in a 4-star resort. Moreover, the resort is situated outside of town and a visit to the seafront, restaurants , and shops meant a 15 to 20 minute walk. While the resort does have a shuttle van, it was not in operation to transport guests to/from the seafront or the train station (I walked a mile/1.6 km with luggage from the station on check-in day). Uber was not available and no local buses were running in October. The on-site restaurant was mediocre, with the exception of the breakfast which was great! There are 2 tiny bars, but a full-service lounge is needed. But despite these criticisms for the resort as a whole, I must say that ALL of the staff I interacted with during my stay was friendly, professional and accommodating. They exhibited pride in what they did for guests. Overall, I would still recommend a stay here. But be sure to ask a lot of questions about seasonal services before you book or visit. "
