A spectacular stay

We stayed 4 nights in the Treetops Chalet. Absolutely gorgeous, well stocked with linens, kitchen utensils, pots etc, a big bathroom with shower and separate jet tub. The king sized bed was very comfortable. Every morning, every meal, every evening we sat and watched the beautiful Bay. Great location, great hosts, a wonderful stay.

We stayed at the 1 bedroom suite. It was perfect for a couple like us on a short stay. The view is second to none looking out North of Paihia across to Russell. You can watch the boats, ferries and yachts from the deck as well as from inside the suite. There is no oven, however there are 2 hobs to cook on. The entire unit is pristine and represents excellent value for money.

Perfect in Paihia

We stayed in Treetops at the Abri Apartments for five nights towards the end of a six week trip to NZ and it was ideal. Set back from the main drag with views out across the water to Russell and an apartment with just about everything you could want set in lovely gardens. Helen was a great host and our stay was really relaxed. If you’re going to Paihia (and it makes a great base for the Bay of Islands) then book this early and enjoy the time there even more.

There are about 30 steps from the off street parking space to the Treetops deck, but we knew that going in. One arrives at a spacious deck with a fantastic view of the Bay of Islands with Russell off in the distance - hence the elevation. It was a bit too cool to dine on the deck (there is a bbq) but at the end of each day exploring it was lovely to sit with a glass of wine on the deck, watching the light fade. Treetops is just enough off the main roads that traffic noise was never an issue, and on 3 of our 4 days we walked into town, to the Russell ferry, etc. Some evenings we ate in, others we went out. There is handy food shopping and restaurants. After the noise and business of Auckland this was a welcome relief. Treetops is very well appointed so eating in is easy, with a dining alcove with a great view as well. The living room looks through a glass wall to the deck and the view. The queen bed felt like a king and the adjacent bathroom was quite luxurious. We did not try the jacuzzi bath tub, perhaps next time. Treetops is very close (longish walk or short drive) to the Waitangi treaty grounds which are a must see. The ferry to Russell is another must; we especially enjoyed the mission tour, full of history. We highly recommend Treetops to all travellers .

This was one of my favorite places I've ever stayed. A beautiful little home with all the conveniences you need and we'll within walking distance to all the local attractions. If I am lucky enough to return to The Bay of Islands I will stay here again for sure.
