Spend a lively evening in Pamplona with a musical or theatrical performance at a prominent cultural venue that also hosts exhibitions.

The Palacio de Congresos y Auditorio de Navarra (CongressPalaceandAuditoriumof Navarre) is a hub of cultural happenings, a three-level dark gray granite building that hosts opera, classical music concerts, plays, comedies, recitals, trade fairs and more. Take your seats for a show in one of Pamplona's leading venues for the arts.

Inside the building is the main auditorium which has seating for more than 1,500 people and the chamber music hall which can accommodate around 500 people. There are also conference rooms and exhibition halls. If you are here during daylight hours go up to the third floor for beautiful views of the Ciudadela (Citadel) through the large windows. This 16th-century fortress and its attractive surroundings have been turned into a spacious park.

Visit one of the building's standout features, the Sala de la Muralla. It is constructed with the remains of one of the fort’s ancient bastions, which can clearly be seen in the walls of the room.

Go for a walk around the venue's large pedestrian plaza and relax on one of the benches. If you are feeling hungry enjoy refreshments or a meal in the café or restaurant. The ticket office is also located on the plaza.

The Palacio de Congresos y Auditorio de Navarra is a short walk away from the old town and next door to the city's bus station. If you arrive by car, park for a fee in the underground lot. To find out about the cultural venue’s schedule of performances and to book tickets visit its official website, or just turn up at the ticket office.

Make the most of the building’s proximity to the Ciudadela and explore the lovely surrounding parkland with its wide grassy areas, trees, ponds and footpaths. Then go into the buildings of the 18th-century fort itself. These include a centuries-old weapons building and a gunpowder storehouse. Both have been turned into exhibition spaces.
