Check out the stunning rock formations, jump into the water for a swim or just soak up the serenity at this soft sand beach on the Sapphire Coast.

Pambula Beach is both a small coastal settlement and an actual beach. Small and at peace with its natural surroundings, Pambula is the perfect spot for families or a quiet escape.

Head straight to the beach, because that’s what it’s all about here. Known for its fine white sand, Pambula Beach is a dream. As if that wasn’t enough, the beach also beguiles with its lush shoreline and rocky headland.

Find a spot to drop your towel and jump in for a swim. Lifesavers patrol most of the year, so swim in between the flags for peace of mind and safety. Try body boarding as well, for a bit of fun with the small, choppy waves this beach tends to get.

Stroll down the beach to the rocks to have a look at some unusual rock formations. Search for the bands of quartz forming bright white lines in the rock and admire the rugged outcrops. Check the rock pools as well for small fish and crabs darting about.

Venture out farther with a walk along the beach or across the headland. Walking north along the beach you can go as far as the town of Merimbula, with beautiful views the whole way. Going south takes you along a small path over the headland to the amazing scenery of the Pambula River. The small beach, turquoise waters and rugged rocks backed by bushland make for a relaxing and scenic walk.

Pambula Beach on the southeast coast of New South Wales can be reached on foot from within Pambula Beach itself or, if you are a keen walker or cyclist, from Pambula and Merimbula. There is free parking if you are arriving by car. Amenities including showers, toilets, a small kiosk and the surf life saving club are all nearby. National park entry fees apply if walking farther along the Pambula River.
