Single Family Cottage Perfect for Families with Kids Charm and Sunset Included

This charming cottage is situated in the perfect location about 2 hours from Toronto near Parry Sound in a lovely small town McKellar. Fall in love with this hidden gem on a beautiful lot overlooking Grey Owl Lake. The cottage has a lot of heart and is welcoming and warm with a typical cottage feel, wooden walls, wooden furniture fresh out of a fairy tale. The large windows and slightly elevated location as well peninsula like location give you a 120 degree view from the living room, dining area, and kitchen. Perfect for families with kids, has a flat grassy area along the wide water front, and a small shallow sandy beach area. The cottage is surrounded by very few neighbours and feels private.

Enjoy your days in the outdoors, fishing, swimming and/or meditating on the dock.

For any shopping needs, McKellar, which is a 5 minute drive has a convenience store, LCBO, an ice cream place, fresh farm eggs, and more. Parry Sound, which is 20 minutes away has a large grocery store, Canadian Tire, Starbucks, and many more.

Feel free to contact me if you have any inquiries at esapozh@ gmail.com.

Simply stunning and a very tranquil place
Loved the cottage just loved it! Kids were very happy. My two year old just hung out and played on the trampoline most the day bouncing with his toys. The older kids took more to the hammock life. They went swimming everyday. Just a beautiful place to be. Would love to go back sometime next year. The best part for me was waking up early in the morning seeing the otters close to the dock. Amazing little creatures. Anyways thanks so much for having us. Words can't explain how much fun we had.

A magical stay in this charming cottage surrounded by nature
What an amazing time we’ve had staying in this charming lakefront cottage! The breathtaking views, dazzling sunsets, and serene atmosphere crated a perfect family getaway. The host is very attentive and the cottage is cozy and has everything needed for a comfortable laidback stay. The abundance of nature, trees all around and the gorgeous lake made our experience truly unforgettable. We will definitely return during the summer months. Highly recommend!

Pleasant time in cottage country
Elena was a responsive host. Her cottage is well kept and included everything we expected and needed. The cottage is easy to get to from Toronto and the lake is clean and was great for us to swim and paddle in our kayaks. Very peaceful and quiet. Perfect for us! Would be good for a family with young children as well.

Small cottage in a beautiful setting
We had a very nice week. The cottage is located on a beautiful and peaceful lake. The cottage itself is small, but it was what we had expected. The location itself however exceeded expectations. There are beautiful views of the water from the cottage deck and from the dock. We were up the last week in June. During this time the lake was very quite with very little boat traffic. Swimming was great (mainly off the dock; the water at this point is deep). My six year old granddaughter had a great time in the water, as well as on the trampoline. There is also a canoe, kayak, and paddle board, as well as various floaties to use. And we enjoyed using the fire pit at night. Overall- an excellent experience. Be advised however, that the shower stall is located in a basement below the cottage, and is not very high. So if you are tall it may be a bit challenging to use.

Perfect getaway from the city!
Decided to take a little getaway from the city for a week and this was the perfect place to do so! Check in was very easy - no contact entry. Elena's cottage was very clean and tidy. Exactly as pictured in the photos. It had a nice fireplace to keep us warm during the day and night. The property is big and located right on the water. Loved the canoe on site. Elena was a great host! Definitely looking forward to come back in the summer.

Great location on the lake
Towards the quiet end of the lake, little traffic. Nice water for swimming, great for fishing, loved Elenas canoe! Cottage was very clean and tidy. Cute place, just bit smaller than seemed in photos. Wish the shower had access from the cottage, it was under the cottage in a low ceiling area, entry from outdoors. Not an issue for me but too low for my tall husband and son. It was a very hot week, but the fans helped cool the place. Overall it was a very nice stay, Elena was a good host and addressed all our questions.

Small, no shower and way too rustic
The shower was unusable. It was full of giant moths and mosquitoes. The water stopped working on the third day. The owner said she would refund us for the time it stopped working. She did not. The beds smelled musty and of mildew. The only consolation was that the kids enjoyed the trampoline and the outdoors. Other than that, I do not think this place was worth the money that was spent. The mosquitoes were unbelievable. We had so many bites we looked like we had the chicken pox. Will definitely not be coming back.

Family Cottage Getaway
Easy to get to, easy no contact entry and closing of cottage. Elena was quick to respond, quick to give us answers or suggestions and nice to communicate with. We had a wonderful time, the dock overlooking the water is with a breathtaking view. Some trees were already starting to change colours so that was a bonus for us. We had campfires, we sat outside and enjoyed the hammock with just the sound of the water hitting the shore and the birds and chipmunks. It was a wonderful relaxing time. Will do it again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful lake and property
Stayed here with my family for a week- a couple, 2 kids and an older adult. The area is lovely, the lake is quiet, great areas to canoe, great for swimming. Lovely property as well to play outdoor games on. The cottage is older and quite small but we made do. The small town of McKellar is only 5 minutes away however the store is quite limited for food so I would recommend shopping in Parry Sound first. There were a few items that were missing when we did arrive - no toilet paper, no paper towel, some light bulbs were burnt out and none available to be replaced - no can opener so bring some of these supplies with you. We would stay again despite this. The owner Elena was very easy to get a hold of for any issues or concerns.

great stay in McKellar
Just came back from a lovely stay at Elena’s cottage. Cottage is rustic, clean and had a beautiful lake front view. The highlight was the lake. Perfect for kayaking, canoeing or lounging on the dock. The grounds were perfect for the kids to run around on and search for frogs. Would definitely stay here again.

All you want from a cottage.
Swimming off the dock, paddling in the canoe, drinks and smores at the fire pit, easy fishing, reading in the hammock. Bring food from Parry Sound on the way in as the local store does not have much in the way of fish, meat and produce. You can drop off your garbage at an exchange point on the other side of the village. Very quiet spot with frogs, turtles, fowl and I think I saw an otter.

Great Getaway
My wife and I and our two teenage sons enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing week at this charming cottage. The lake is beautiful and quiet with lots of bays and inlets to explore by canoe and kayak. The cottage is small but charming and rustic and it's perched on a gentle, grass slope overlooking the lake. Also very clean and well-equipped with everything you need for you stay -- although you may want to bring a small, bedroom fan for those really hot nights. All in all a great getaway.

Perfect family getaway
A lovely spot on a quiet end of the lake. Great places to paddle and fish. The property is pretty and has open spaces for playing lawn games. Hummingbirds frequent the property which was delightful. The cottage is sweet and cute and super clean. It has basic amenities but be aware you need to bring your own water and haul away your trash and recycling as there is no access for visitors to the local dump. We had a wonderful time!

Private and quiet
Elena is very responsive and does everything she can to take care of any issue as quickly as possible. This cottage is on a quiet, calm, beautiful lake. Swimming is great! You can swim right across with little worry about boat traffic. We maybe saw 3 motorized boats a day. Gorgeous view from the property to vacant land (shield rocks and trees). There are wild flowers and trees all around. There is even a very brave chipmunk that will come ask for a snack if you're quiet enough, and a hummingbird nest in one of the trees by the picnic table. If you're looking for privacy and are comfortable with the older cottage feel, this property is great. Getting in and out of the lake can be a little tricky as there is a big step up/down onto a bank to/from the water or there is a ladder on the dock that has seen better days. Not recommended for seniors. Kids seem to have no problems whatsoever. The shower is under the cottage, not part of the main bathroom. Everything is kept very clean but this may not be everyone's comfort zone. Bring a portable fan for the bedrooms if it is supposed to be a hot week. Must be comfortable with a little rustic experience.
