Pine & Paper

Pine & Paper is a luxurious creative retreat nestled in the peaceful pines just minutes from downtown Payson. It's the perfect setting to work on your novel, spend time with family, experience the outdoors, escape the Phoenix heat, or just relax and unwind. As you sip your morning coffee from the wraparound balcony, you might catch a glimpse of the elk that visit the property nearly every day at dawn and dusk. Then dive into your favorite book as you sway in a hammock overlooking the pines.

This one-of-a-kind escape was designed with creativity, relaxation, fun, and togetherness in mind. Each room was inspired by an author, including Laura Ingalls Wilder, Ernest Hemingway, Zane Grey, L. Frank Baum, Shel Silverstein, Louisa May Alcott, and George Orwell.

The living area boasts a curated collection of literature including children's classics, political philosophy, gripping thrillers, insightful memoirs, and much more. Everyone in the family is sure to stumble on one of their favorite authors as they browse Pine & Paper's shelves.

Aspiring writers and traveling professionals will appreciate the large built-in desk with two workstations. Desktop monitors are provided so guests can connect their laptops and view their work on multiple screens, whether it's a creative project, college paper, or a corporate presentation. The vintage typewriter at the second workstation offers guests a glimpse through the eyes of writers from generations past.

Pine & Paper's guests are invited to exercise their bodies as well as their minds. The property includes a private workout space with free weights and a Peloton. The stationary bike is positioned in front of a large window with a view of the pines that would inspire the most sedentary among us to do some cardio.

For guests who prefer fresh air and sunshine with their workout, there are multiple walking trails nearby. It's just a short drive from some of Arizona's most popular hiking spots, fishing holes, OHV trails, and other outdoor attractions, including the Tonto Natural Bridge.

The backyard Zen garden is the perfect spot to nurture spiritual wellness. Guests can truly disconnect and immerse themselves in the peaceful surroundings, intentionally experiencing the sights, scents and sounds of nature.

Though the property is just minutes from Payson's best restaurants, guests may choose to nurture another type of creative expression in the home's modern, luxuriously equipped kitchen. The open concept living, cooking, and dining space is perfect for bringing different generations together to share in the joy of food.

The spacious layout with multiple living areas and a wide range of activity options makes Pine & Paper the perfect retreat for multigenerational families. In addition to the main living room with a huge TV, plush leather couches, and wood-burning fireplace, there is a second living space downstairs, where families can gather to enjoy board games and foosball, or begin their next work of art at the large easel.

The Location:

Pine & Paper is nestled in a quiet neighborhood in the pines minutes from Historic Downtown Payson. The drive from Phoenix takes just over an hour, which makes a trip to Pine & Paper one of the quickest ways to escape the Valley's sweltering summer heat or find the perfect winter wonderland for the holidays.

Pine & Paper is set on several acres with walking trails around the property. This picturesque escape is conveniently located less than 5 minutes from Payson's Safeway and Walmart, but you'll feel like you have the entire forest to yourself.

The property is also just a short drive from some of Arizona's most popular hiking spots, fishing holes, OHV trails, and other outdoor attractions, including the Tonto Natural Bridge.

The Town of Payson boasts quaint local diners, antique shops, and a taste of the old west. Check out the local farmer's market while you're in town, every Saturday in May-September from 8 a.m. to noon at Sawmill Crossing Plaza. After spending a night in Pine & Paper's Zane Grey-inspired bedroom, you might also want to visit the Rim Country Museum, which includes a replica of the classic western author's cabin.

Whether you're looking for relaxation, entertainment, natural beauty, family bonding, or creative inspiration, you'll find it at Pine & Paper. We look forward to hosting you!

Lovely place to stay
The house is very spacious for 8-10 people; Four bedrooms We had 6 adults sleeping there. 1st master room with king size bed very large and spacious 2cnd room has two bunk beds One oversized and one twin stacked 3rd room has two bunk beds one oversized one twin stacked 4th room two small bunk beds stacked. It would be so nice if they had put queen beds in 2nd and 3rd room and the oversized with the twin in the 4th room Sleeping could have been better for the smaller rooms. The 4th room is barely big enough for one adult to get in and out. Very large kitchen and dining room. Overall very nice place but thought the sleeping arrangements could be up graded for adults. We would stay again.

Family Gathering for Celebration of Life
Our family of 10 and our yellow Lab, Zeus, traveled from California to Payson to attend the funeral Mass and celebrate the life of our dear Aunt Cheryl. Pine and Paper is the perfect home for four generations and a pet to come together for a weekend. It features the peace of nature, the solitude of being away from the city (yet be only 2 miles away), and a warm, cozy home to share memories, laughter and great meals together. As you open the front door, the great room is large with soaring cathedral ceilings. You don't feel crowded with 10 in this home! Plentiful seating with cozy fires indoors and outdoors. A well appointed kitchen with plenty of dishes to create and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a bathroom and laundry room/pantry on the first floor. Upstairs, the master bedroom is large and warmly decorated -- it has its own large bathroom with large shower & separate tub. The three other rooms are smaller with bunk beds and they share a bathroom with shower on the hall. Smart to take shifts in both upstairs bathrooms with others if you're all getting ready in the morning for the same event. I loved the writer's theme of the decor, and the quotes throughout the home. This would make a great writer's retreat! So peaceful, quiet and inspiring. Very clean, well appointed, large home. Prompt and helpful communication from the owner. 5-star stay!

Amazing property and home owner
My family and I stayed at the property for a long weekend and did not want to leave. The house was clean and had everything needed to cook a family dinner. The house had plenty of activities to keep us all entertained and did a scavenger hunt which we all enjoyed. The property is great, we saw elk most mornings and our dogs enjoyed their time in the cool weather.
