Welcome to "Shade Mountain Retreat." This is such a lovely private setting, perched on the side of a ridge among the rolling hills of Juniata County!

Watch the wildlife as you sip your coffee on the porch, relax in the hot tub, take a nature walk on the trails (28 private acres to explore!) and enjoy the numerous cozy spaces this property has to offer!

PSU Weekend Getaway
Jake, the property host, was a pleasure to work with on any and all details of the house for the weekend getaway our group of friends that were in the area for the PSU - OSU game. The house was exactly as described, and the reviews are spot on! Spacious, clean, and everything you and guests could need. Wonderful Getaway
House was the perfect location for our multi-family holiday Celebration. The hot tub, ping pong table etc was enjoyed by all ages. Plenty of space to have alone time and come together for meals and games. Most well stocked house we’ve ever rented (kitchen items, bathrooms items, towels, trash bags, etc). Jake was a wonderful host and was very responsive.

Extended family gathering
Shade Mountain Retreat is a delightful place for an extended family gathering such as ours. The property is beautifully furnished ans maintained, with a roomy kitchen, lots of pots and pans, and abundant dishes and silverware. The wide-open central space and looong dining room table were ideal for our group encompassing 3 generations. We particularly liked all the wood paneling. There were lots of fun things to do, from indoor and outdoor games to hiking in the woods. All in all, a very enjoyable week for the entire family.

Beautiful Property
This property was amazing and beautiful. There was plenty of room for our entire party to relax and have their own space. The fire pit area offed a great place for all of us to hang out at night. In reviewing the property description I feel that it was represented accurately. If ever in the area again; I would definitely consider returning to this property.

Beautiful cabin
Thank you so much Jake for allowing us to stay at this beautiful cabin, the layout was perfect!! The kids loved the pool table, ping pong table & hot tub!! Every morning we enjoyed watching the deer come to the feeders & the squirrels spinning around trying to get the corn then walking the trails behind the property. The grandkids said they wanted to stay for 100 years😊

A beautiful labor weekend with church family!!!!
We had such of beautiful time in the middle of the nature, the air, the surrounding area with just us and God’s creations!!!! If you are looking for a quite place to be outside of your house and enjoy nature this is a great option!!!! Jake is awesome as an owner, very communicative. We had no problems staying here. Perfect spot
We recently spent a week at Shade Mountain Retreat with our family of 16. It's a wonderful property for a multi-generational vacation. Hiking trails and a firepit were available for our active members. A pool table was well used by all 3 generations present. The large property gave us space for many activities. There are extra activities available in the area. Our only concern was a lack of cell phone coverage (not Jake's fault)

Great place to unplug
The property is wonderful and we had a great time. There are ample bedrooms for many guests, kitchen has lots of great features (2 ovens, ample plates and silverware) and the pool + ping pong tables make for a great unplugged time. They've done really well with the small touches for this location (e.g. firepit, hummingbird feeder, grill, etc). There's a great hike called 1,000 steps not too far away, which had an awesome view. Would definitely recommend for big families or groups of friends looking for some time away.

Wonderful week!
The house was very clean. I've never stayed at a rental property that was so well stocked...plenty of towels, paper towels, dishwasher tablets, kitchen supplies, etc. The gate made it easy to keep track of the kids and let the adults relax. Even when it rained there was plenty of room and things to do to keep everyone entertained. We had a wonderful week!

Shade Mountain Retreat
Our family had an absolutely amazing three-nights stay at Shade Mountain Retreat, Lack Township, PA. The house was perfect for our extended family of 17. The house had everything to make our stay most enjoyable. It could very well accommodate a group of 20 without compromising on space. The host was very easy to communicate with and was always ready to help. The kitchen was packed. Highly recommended.

A wonderful weekend at shade mountain retreat!
Our stay at shade mountain retreat was wonderful from start to finish! A weekend away with friends and family in a beautiful home was just what was needed! The house was beautiful, spacious, extremely clean, and stocked with everything you could think of! I cannot say enough nice things about the host, Jake. He answered every question I had for him almost immediately and went completely out of way to make our stay amazing! A 5 star experience the entire weekend! Thank you, Jake! Wonderful place for large groups
Beautifully located home with room for the entire family plus more! Perfect for those looking to get away from it all. Heads up there is little to no cell service in the area and if you have a large group the WiFi can have trouble keeping up, works great when not everyone is trying to use a device at the same time :). There is a landline at the home to make calls. Would recommend and visit again should the situation arise.
