Many spoke English. Lots of good walking in the area. We'd go back to this area in a heartbeat. If you go don't miss nearby Marvao castle and village. As for the house, there are 38 steep steps from the lower level up to the terrace. The middle flight is steepest and has no handrail. The house is 3 levels...

"Tapada da Beirã was a charming villa, it had everything we could have wished for, the hosts were lovely and were on hand with advice and knowledge of the area. Plenty of outdoor spaces to relax or eat al fresco and a super swimming pool. You need a car to get around, the nearest shop is in Santo António das Areias. About 20 steps from the Villa is a lovely restaurant and the food was amazing as were the staff."

"Unfortunately, due to the weather we did not get to venture away from the hotel but the map shows it being close to points of interest. The hotel itself was very clean, modern and the room was very clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were both very good with plenty of options."
