Put on your mask and snorkel and see what you can find in the clear waters of Playa La Audiencia. Tropical fish, large octopuses and colorful sea plants lie beneath the surface of the water. Enjoy watersports including kayaking, swimming or windsurfing or rent a beach lounger and fall asleep for the afternoon beneath the shade of an umbrella. Eat in one of the small restaurants along the shore and stay to enjoy the sunset behind the headland to the west.
Playa La Audiencia is one of the prettiest and most popular beaches in the Manzanillo region. Located on the west side of the Santiago Peninsula, the beach’s calm waters and safe swimming make it a favorite with families. It is a great place to come to enjoy a relaxing day by the sea.
Get involved in one of the many watersport activities offered here. Several stalls along the beach rent boogie boards, kayaks, windsurfers and more. Diving and snorkeling are also popular activities as the water at Playa La Audiencia is generally much clearer than at many of the other beaches. Join one of the dive trips that take you to feed the octopuses and eels or don a mask and snorkel to explore the area on your own.
Relax for the afternoon on the sands or rent a beach lounge chair or umbrella for a few pesos. Purchase a cool drink from one of the restaurants and drift off with a good book and the sound of gentle waves lapping the shore.
Look for the plaque near the public toilets behind the beach. This marks the spot where the explorer Hernan Cortés ordered his lieutenant to build brigantines to help the Spanish explore the area.
Playa La Audiencia is a short taxi ride from Manzanillo town center in Santiago Bay. The watersports equipment stalls and restaurants are open year-round. Weekends and holidays do get busy, so arrive early to secure the best spots on the beach.
