"Lovely hotel in the heart of La Rochelle. We had a room in the annexe which was good because at the time there were extensive renovations taking place to the exterior of the main building which was shrouded in green fabric. Internally it was renovated I believe last year to a very high standard and was modern whilst retaining many original features. Parking available on site is a must, at an extra cost, but is well worth the charge. Breakfast was plentiful and very busy but we always managed to get a good table. The staff were all extremely efficient and although their English was better than our French, they let us persevere in French, at our request. Lots of good restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk. Really can’t fault this hotel. We would definitely book again on future visits. "

"Hotel right on the sea front with lovely sea and harbour views. 1.6klms (1 mile) walk from the city center. Nice walk but a long way if you are not a good walker and I wouldn't want to walk through the park alone at night. The front terrace was nice with sun lounger and table and chairs. Large comfy bed with tv, kettle, hairdryer. No air con, but a fan in the room. Didn't have breakfast but was charged for it on arrival so had to ask them to take it off our bill at the end. The breakfast looked good with croissants, cake, bread meats cheese cereal. We only had a coffee, but it wasn't very nice. No bar so you have to order drinks etc from reception. There is a little cafe close by"

"The door didn't close without us slamming it, some staff were very friendly but others were quite rude and didn't tell us when the breakfast buffet moved next door until we came downstairs and reception was locked so we knocked until someone answered. The area around the hotel is lovely but the hotel itself isn't the best. It's old, with black mold in the shower railing, orange soap scum staining the curtain and poor ventilation, even worse AC. Says the soap etc is included but provided only one hand soap which was poorly functioning as the bag inside the dispenser was broken. If you like lizards we did see one outside though, very cute."
