This picturesque cottage in the beautiful village of Chilcompton is the ultimate countryside hideaway. The Space:
Flora Cottage has 4 bedrooms and can sleep up to 8 guests. On the ground floor is a twin room with two singles and there is also a shower room with a toilet on this level. On the first floor, you'll find two double bedrooms and a king bedroom, both of which share a family bathroom with a separate shower, bath and toilet.
Although it can technically sleep up to 8, please keep in mind this is a period cottage and the room proportions are not comparable to modern properties. So it is likely more comfortable for up to 6 guests.

The Neighborhood:
Flora Cottage is quite literally surrounded by a plethora of attractions. Whether it's outdoor activities like hiking and rock climbing, historical sites or artisanal shopping, there is something for everyone. But you don't have to travel far for the conveniences, you'll find a CO-OP, Post Office and ATM just 5 minutes walk away and a larger Tesco store 5 minutes drive.
Nature enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise with the surrounding countryside at their doorstep. Lace up your walking boots and embark on scenic hikes along the nearby footpaths, where rolling hills and meandering streams create a tranquil backdrop. Explore the idyllic landscapes of the Mendip Hills or the enchanting woodlands of Longleat Forest. Cheddar Gorge is also only 30 minutes away where you can enjoy hiking, caving and rock climbing.
The historic market town of Frome is also only 20 minutes drive away. As well as a large selection of artisan shops you can also enjoy the monthly market (1st Sunday of each month). Here you'll find tons of food trucks, and stalls selling everything from antiques to groceries and more. England's smallest city, Wells, is similarly close and only 15 minutes drive. Enjoy a stunning cathedral and a wide selection of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.
Further afield, the Roman City of Bath is around a 25-minute drive and offers outstanding Architecture, mixing the 2,000-year-old Roman thermal baths with modern Bath stone buildings. Visit the original Roman Baths which are over 2,000 years old, have tea in the pump room restaurant, and the modern Thermae Spa finishing off your day with a rooftop swim overlooking the city.
Bath is also a vibrant shopping city offering a modern-day shopping experience with designer shops mixed with unique local traders. During the build-up to Christmas Bath has a German-style Christmas market typically running from the last weekend of November until late December.
History buffs will delight in the rich heritage of the surrounding area. Don't miss the opportunity to visit nearby attractions such as Farleigh Hungerford Castle, a medieval fortress steeped in history, or the mystical ruins of Glastonbury Abbey. And if that wasn't enough, the world-famous Stonehenge can be reached in only 50 minutes. This is widely considered one of the most important prehistoric monuments in the world dating back over 4,000 years.
Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of rural Somerset, a vehicle is recommended to make the most of your stay here. Off-road parking for 2 vehicles can be found on the driveway for your convenience. There is also free parking in the surrounding streets.
