"As with many places in this part of Niseko, it’s getting dated. They have done some upkeep inside at least. All the investment is over in Hirafu and Hanazono. That said, this side of town still has a lot of charm. The good backcountry skiing is over here too. I enjoyed the onsen. The food was also good, but started to get repetitive after day 2. I stayed 4 nights and wouldn’t have wanted to do another meal per se. There are limited dining options on this side of town,but the isakaya down...

"Very confined space. Felt like I was on top of people trying to get around. If you don't have a vehicle you are limited to what is around you. No kitchen to cook your own meals. Was difficult to find a place to relax. The bathroom was out of hand towels for a day and both toilets where out of toilet paper. Breakfast was great and the gear lockers where great as well. "

"This property is not far from the Annapuri Lifts and has regular shuttle busses heading to all the ski slopes! Also, the reason I chose it is the awesome onsen and large outside rotemburo! "We had an amazing stay. The food, the staff, and the whole vibe of the decor are incredible. What a cozy, lovely spot. I know the harsh winters can be hard in a property, but I would suggest they do some minor maintenance (wood paneling on private outdoor onsen area, rust on private porch railing, wallpaper in entrance area) to ensure this amazing hotel can stay around for a long time! We want to come back in every season. "

"This was our third stay at Freedom Inn. We love the location within walking distance to the ski field but away from touristy Hirafu. They have a great pick up drop off shuttle service which can take you to dinner in either Hirafu or Kutchan. Try Kutchan for a more authentic japanese experience. You can even stop by an onsen on the way! There also is a free shuttle to/from the ski lifts. The rooms are very spaceous and there is an onsen/ouffro on site too. The photos don't really do this place...

"Beautiful property and facilities with high-end finishes and design. Excellent food (breakfast) and good restaurants. Only downside is that there is no walkable "local" area to explore. The hotel is self-contained but isolated, and one needs to take the shuttle to Hirafu to be in town. That said, it was a wonderful place to ski in and out of, with fantastic service and amenities."

"Loved the 4 night stay here. The location across the street from the Hanazono lifts is perfect. The breakfast buffet was great but a bit expensive. The room was good soft pillows and two large double beds pushed together. I used the Onsen 3 times and it was nice after a long day skiing. The front desk was super helpful in shipping luggage to Sapporo. "
