Chesapeake Bay Beach Cottage
Nicely decorated vintage cottage, plenty of supplies provided, excellent air conditioning and internet. Prompt, personal communication from owner/host. However, we only stayed the first night of our three night reservation because the cable television service, including antenna channels, was out and would be out for at least two more days. We and the owner/host found this out after she called the cable company shortly after we arrived for our first night's stay. She offered a refund of our first night's stay. We stayed the first night and left by 9 a.m. on the morning of our second day because of the loss of television service which was not the owner/host's fault. So, we lost the money we spent for night's two and three. We should have bought the trip insurance. Also, the beach photo on the VRBO listing for this Chesapeake Bay Beach Cottage in Reedville, VA is misleading, in our opinion. The very small, uninviting beach area we had to walk a quarter mile from this cottage to see doesn't square, in our view, with what is shown on the rental listing. Finally, be aware that there is a fish processing plant, called Omega Protein, apparently within smelling distance and wind direction of this cottage at times. Not the owner/host's fault, but a very fishy, strong cat food smell was in the air around the property on the morning we departed, starting with what we could smell inside the house at around 4 a.m. Regardless of these three minuses, the host & property earn a 4/5 overall.
