Family villa Myrtia with heated pool, 2 minutes walking to local amenities

Atsipopoulo villas are approved by Greek Tourism Organization with license number: 1041K91002986701.

In the beautiful village of Atsipopoulo a few kilometres from Rethymno centre, you will meet the traditional guest house 'Villa Myrtia', which is a 150 sq metres villa with a private swimming pool and can host up to 8 persons.

The owners have respected the traditional architecture of Crete and have used indigenous materials such as stone and wood. However, they have constructed a very comfortable house, as it is the most important point of holidays.

They await you to experience the Cretan hospitality, tradition and history, as well as pleasurable moments of relaxation and serenity.

Villa Myrtia is one of the two-twins villas that locate at the center of village Atsipopoulo, which can meet all your first needs. Supermarket, bakery, groceries and butchery shop, cofee shop, restaurants, ATM and pharmacy are all in walking distance (200 metres from the entrance of the villas). However, as you come in from the entrance of the villas, the whole atmosphere changes, as our villas locate inside the nature in a peaceful and ideal for relaxing enviroment. The center of Rethymno is also 5 kilometres away and 10 minutes drive.

Villa Myrtia is concstructed in maisonette style, measures 150 m2 and has a private swimming pool and balcony. Moreover,it can host 8 persons in 4 bedrooms. Two of them have a double bed and the rest two have two single beds each.

On the ground floor you will find the living area with a fireplace, a full-equipped kitchen and a dining area. It also includes the first two bedrooms, one bathroom and a lavatory.

The top floor consists of two bedrooms, a bathroom, a lavatory and a balcony with a view of the traditional village nearby and the nature. All the rooms are air-conditioned.

The villa is equipped with Satellite television, DVD player, CD Player and radio, Coffee machinet, Microwave, Toaster, Dishwasher, Clothes washer, Deposit box, Hair-dryer and Baby cot.

The exterior of the villa includes a 27 private swimming pool, a dining table and seats for all the 8 persons, as well as 8 sunbeds in order you can enjoy the cretan sun. In addition, each villa has its own barbeque facilities for your personal use. The swimming pool of the villa can also be heated with an extra cost of 40 euros per day (upon request at least 7 days before arrival and valid only for the whole booking)

The location of the villas are ideal for exploring our whole island. Located in the center of the north part of Crete, only 3 kilometres from the highway provides easy access from the local airports (Heraklion and Chania) and the opportunity to visit from the big cities of the island to the smallest beaches in both north and south part of Crete.

Guests will have access and full privacy to all areas indoor and outdoor!

We will wait for you in the villa for your arrival (despite the time, even after midnight) in order to help you with the house details and give you as much informations as you want about the area, taverns, shops, places and beaches that you have to visit!
Also we will clean the villa and change towels and linen every 3 days!
Finally we will be there for your departure for our last thank you!
We will be also reachable on our cell phone and e-mails 24/7!
Our home locates only 1 kilometer from the villa, so we will be able to come in a few minutes at the villa for anything that you will need.

The perfect place
We can’t thank George and his mother enough for making our stay in Crete more perfect. It is a beautiful villa, tranquil and relaxing and perfectly situated for exploring Crete. There are stores, bakeries and restaurants within easy walking distance. We chose to have George’s mother cook us dinner on our last night and it was amazing . Thank you George for quickly responding to all our questions and needs. We appreciated your suggestions and your help with the car rental.

A wonderful oasis in village centre
We loved our 10 day stay at Villa Myrtia. It's conveniently situated in the heart of the Atsipopoulo village therefore close to a selection of supermarkets, cafe's, a bar and a few good restaurants, yet set off the road and therefore concealed from any village noise or activities. The villa is of traditional stone construction but with all modern facilities to ensure it's comfort, both inside and out. The pool area is lovely (we were staying in mid/late September therefore opted for pool heating, which was good for us but perhaps unnecessary in peak summer or should you not mind a bit of chill to the water). The village is very close to the larger town of Rethymno where you'll find quaint streets and plenty of bars/eateries. Atsipopoulo is only just over an hour's drive from either Chania or Heraklion airports (and both cities are worth a visit!). Also, near Heraklion, is the famous ancient Knossos which we enjoyed visiting. We also had a day crossing the mountains for a visit to the south of the island, which is also recommended. Crete, as with many other Greek Islands, has it's fair share of stray cats but we loved having our 'very own' cat + 2 young kittens who were regular visitors to the villa and kept us entertained (in return for us keeping them nourished no doubt!). Since our initial booking, communication with George was always prompt and polite. We would love the opportunity to return to this lovely villa sometime in the future. Thank you so much!

Lovely villa. Close to everything you need but still feels peaceful. Excellent facilities and well.managed. George was always available, without being intrusive. Nice not to be in a very touristy area. The only thing to be aware of is that you are some way from the (very nice) beaches, so need to drive.or take a bus.

Great villa, super hosts and a handy location.
The villa was great for our party of 5. It had nearly everything we needed, only salt and pepper not provided where we thought it should be. The villa has been tastefully restored inside and out to a really good standard. Kitchen is equipped well. Lots of sun beds and seating outside. Georges mother made us a great meal to enjoy at the villa, would recommend this if you wanted a night in. The portions are huge so make sure you are hungry! Just to note the pool is all one depth at 1.5m and only has a ladder to get in and out which was a struggle for my elderly relatives. Also no handrail to get upstairs again only an issue if you have mobility problems. Wouldn’t be an issue for most people though. Finally if you are hiring a car I recommend a small one as it was a challenge to turn around at the end of the drive in our 7 seater. Overall we had a great holiday and George and his family were great hosts

Excellent location
Stayed for two weeks and couldn’t fault it. George and his family were excellent hosts and made us feel welcome. The villa is located in the village with everything you need and a bus stop outside the villa entrance where you can buy your tickets from the local bakery. Up into the next village there are several restaurants and a pharmacy, you could walk up or jump on a bus. The bus also goes down to the harbour which is absolutely beautiful at night and has that Greek atmosphere which we loved. We also went on trips around the island where you can book at the harbour or ring from the villa where George left all the information you need. I would definitely go back again to this villa again

A holiday to please everyone across 3 generations
Our host was there to meet us with sandwiches and supper when we arrived at 11:00pm after a delayed flight. A kind thought and very welcome. Well maintained inside and out. While eating breakfast we spotted a lizard on more than one occasion and late afternoon we would watch the swallows swooping over the pool. The 8 year olds were hardly ever out of the pool and looking forward to impressing their swimming teacher back in Manchester. The adults did join them too. Supermarkets within a short walk – well stocked with barbecue supplies. Convenient Pizza restaurant (eat-in and take away) within a few steps of the gate. Well equipped kitchen, reliable wi-fi and the younger members of our party were glad of the air-con in the bedrooms. Comfortable beds. Well planned sleeping arrangements so that the children slept in one room downstairs, while Mum & Dad had the en-suite room opposite, leaving Granny & Grandad peace and quiet in the upstairs double. Granny and Mum were impressed by Maria’s crafts workshop. Thank you for a most enjoyable holiday.

Communication with George was very easy and prompt from the start and throughout. This is a small family business and is well organised with personal touches and attention to detail. The family quite rightly take great pride in sharing their lovely villas which although located in a village , are tucked away and very quiet and private. The villa was very clean and well equipped. We loved the pool and well shaded outside eating area . Plenty of sunbeds with shades . The village has everything you could need from a well stocked supermarket , gelateria, bakery , pizza and coffee shops and a few traditional tavernas serving good food. The square in front of the church is a lovely setting . We did find it useful to have a car to explore the island and pop to restaurants down by the sea ( Taverna Galleria was good ) and into Rethymno town. The fortress is definitely worth a visit as well as the harbour area. We also enjoyed Kouras Lake , Preveli Beach and Georgioupolis. The scenery is fabulous especially travelling South through canyons and gorges. George and his mother were very kind and hospitable. We had a very warm welcome despite arriving late because of flight delays . We really loved our stay. A week was not long enough. We would highly recommend the lovely villa Myrtia.

We had a great stay! The villa is beautifully decorated, very clean & homely. It is nicely located in the middle of the village, so very easy to pop in & get supplies but also very quiet & private. The hosts are very attentive & helpful! The homemade goodies are delicious thank you! It is easy to drive or catch a bus into the main town. The house is fully kitted out with everything needed. My only suggestion would be for more storage in the bedrooms for clothes.

Well located, modern villa and attentive, helpful hosts
Right from when we booked I was impressed with the friendly, prompt communication from the host. George was able to supply us with useful information ahead of our trip, and this ensured we were ready to relax from the start of the holiday. The villa was easy to locate from instructions, we arrived in two hire cars from Chania and there was ample parking for both cars at the rear of the property. The house was modern, clean and cool inside. We had the air con on in the bedrooms each night but it didn't need to be too low (or else it got too cold!). There are three showers so plenty to go round and we didn't run out of hot water! All the appliances worked fine - having a washing machine was great and meant we could travel a bit lighter. You'll need your own beach towels, but George and Mary supply pool and bathroom towels. Atsipopolou is a cute village and it was handy having the supermarket and a choice of places to eat close by. There is some noise from motorbikes (delivery drivers) out on the road, but it didn't bother us - in fact our granddaughter at 13 months was fascinated by them! We walked up to the village centre for dinner a couple of times, plus went to Prine up the hill and into Rethymno a few times. One night, Mary made us dinner of Gemitsa (veg stuffed with rice) and Giouvetsi (slow cooked beef with orzo) - absolutely delicious! The pool was kept very clean and we loved the birds (martins) swooping around. Altogether a fun, relaxing family holiday. Recommend!

Beautiful, well appointed villa in a great location for families with teenagers/young adults
Having read previous reviews, our expectations were high and we weren’t disappointed. We were a group of six - my husband and I and four late teen/adult children. I was after a villa that would provide a cool, comfortable and welcoming base for us as we explored Rethymno. I can only repeat what other reviewers have said - the villla was terrific. We also wanted to be located somewhere that would be easy for everyone to experience a bit of local life outside of the tourist traps - buying food from the local shops, taking the bus to and from Rethymno, having a coffee in one of several coffee shops and watching the neighbourhood. For this, the location was brilliant. George also helped to arrange a day trip to Samaria Gorge which was a highlight of our entire trip to Greece.

Beautiful villa, wonderful hosts, family friendly!
Our family of four had a wonderful stay at Villa Myrtia. The villa itself has a comfortable four bedrooms with a nicely equipped kitchen and shared living space. It has all the modern amenities and the grounds are lovely - a beautiful pool and lounge area, bbq, plus large balcony perfect for having morning coffee or evening wine. The Villa is a two minute walk to bakeries, restaurants and grocery stores. George met us at 2 am as our flight was delayed and his mother made us sandwiches and a pie so we could have something to eat if we were hungry. George’s mother makes incredible food and she prepared a meal for our family the last night of our stay. It was one of our favorite meals in Greece, I highly recommend having her prepare food. They were wonderful hosts and shared all the best spots to eat and visit during our stay.

What a special villa
The villa is in the middle of the village, next door to a bakery/coffee shop. There’s a bar on the other side. A good supermarket is <5 mins walk away. More supermarkets, butchers are a short drive away. When in the villa you wouldn’t know there’s a bustling village just metres away, as it’s v quiet.

Lovely villa with the personal touch from the owners!
Just returned from staying at Villa Myrtia. The villa is spacious & spotlessly clean. George was there to greet us on arrival with Raki and a type of pie his mother had made. He was very helpful and arrives quickly to help if there are any problems. There is everything you could need for your stay locally within the village. We did not hire a car as we just wanted a chilled out week, however it was very easy to buy a bus ticket from the bakery near the villa to go into Retymno where there are lots of tourist type shops and many restaurants. We also ate locally where the choice of food is less but beautifully cooked! George brought a dessert midweek, also made by his mother and even a parting gift made by his sister, which was much appreciated. All in all we had a great stay! Excellent.

This property is as beautiful in real life as it is in the photos! It has been exquisitely furnished and was impeccably clean. The kitchen is fully equipped, the beds very comfortable, the pool nice and refreshing. The hosts are really friendly and have thought of everything. Any question or request we had was quickly responded to. The property itself is very private even though situated in the middle of a village. It is a short drive (10 min) to the centre of Rethymno, which itself is our favourite place to enjoy the beach and eat in local restaurants. Closer to the property, there are also cafes and grocery stores for anything needed. We would happily return again and recommend this property without hesitation. Many thanks to our host George!

Fantastic holiday in an amazing villa
We had such an amazing week at Villa Myrtia. The lovely welcome from George was so appreciated - as was the gorgeous pudding and parting gift from his mother! The villa proved to be a perfect base from which to explore the beautiful island of Crete. It was so good to be based in a village so you could easily pop to the supermarket or bakery without needing to take the car. The highlights of our week were: * the winding streets and Fortezza at Rethymno * eating out in Rethymno on some evenings - there is a large very reasonably priced car park right by the harbour *the villages of Margarites and Argiroupolis * the cave at Melidhoni * lunchat the Panorama restaurant overlooking the harbour at Bali and snorkelling from the small cove just round the corner from the harbour * snorkelling at Amoudhi and Dhamoni beaches after driving through Kourtaliotiko Gorge We also loved spending time around the immaculate patio area, swimming in the pool and playing cards on the top terrace watching the sun set over the distant hills. One week was not enough! We would definitely recommend this gorgeous villa. Thank you George and family for providing such a warm and genuine welcome.

Communication - very responsive, nothing was to much trouble without being intrusive. Replies received within hours. Met at midnight at villa with great hospitality shown. Villa - as described, comfy beds, well furnished, great air con, lots of room for 2 families. Pool area amazing. Cleaned by the owner every 3 days with fresh bedding and towels, bathrooms, floors etc Village - great base for exploring, owner will provide lots of useful local knowledge. Bakery, supermarket, coffee shops, take aways, cake/ice cream shop with young childrens play area. Fantastic restaurant in the shadow of the village church, great experiences when we ate here. Another restaurant too and a cash machine. Car recommended but equally enough around to not have to drive. Centre of Rethymno about a 10 min drive. Dessert made for us was a lovely gesture by owners Mum and tasted fantastic. Overall - I would book again and I think that says it all. Thanks again we loved the villa and Crete.
