Laughing Bear Log Cabin, historical, sleeps 8, full kitchen, 2 dining areas!!

Laughing Bear Cabin is a historic piece of Mt. Hood, Oregon’s rustic
beauty. The Steiner family, who also helped to build Timberline Lodge
in Oregon, built the cabin in 1930. Located under old an growth canopy,
next to Zig Zag River and Still Creek, in Rhododendron on 1/4 acres of
private land, at the 1,500-foot elevation. We now have wifi. This is a non-smoking
facility. Ashtrays are provided outside on the covered back deck.
Some pets are negotiable and require an additional fee.
WE ARE PET FRIENDLY WITH A $100 FEE. PLEASE NOTE; IF YOUR PET IS A SERVICE ANIMAL OR A COMFORT PET, DO NOT FILL "CHECK THE BOX FOR PETS!" RATHER, PUT THAT INFORMATION WITHIN THE DESCRIPTION OF YOUR REQUEST.
Laughing Bear has 1,300 square feet of living space with 3 bedrooms, 1
½ bath, a river rock fireplace, woodstove, propane furnace, hot tub
with jets, and all-season barbeque deck, and a fully equipped kitchen
with all the modern amenities you would find in any modern home
including a coffee grinder and a bread maker. There are
accommodations for 8 people with 3 double beds, 2 singles, and a
futon. Among other amenities there is also a washer/dryer, TV/VCR/DVD,
stereo/CD player.
We provide all the towels, linens, extra blankets, extra pillows,
sleeping bags, and some toiletries.
We also have some family movies on DVD and VHS, board games,
puzzles, books, and toys.
Mt. Hood has some of the best snow park activities available with
snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and much more. It also
provides over 2,000 miles of hiking trails, horseback riding, golfing,
hot spring soaking, water sports and fishing at the numerous lakes and
rivers in the area. All these only minutes away from the cabin. Some
activities are walking distance.

Great Little Cabin
We booked a last minute stay with some friends. We were so happy with our short stay. The cabin was adorable, clean, and in the perfect location for us. If you want a charming cabin in the woods this is the place!

Beautiful setting, charming historic cabin with tons of character
We had a wonderful stay. As advertised, an historic cabin with lots of unique features and charm. Not for you if you want a new, modern feel, but wonderful if you want a memorable place with character. A bit quirky but has everything you need. Beautiful setting, enjoyed the hot tub under huge trees with sound of the stream. Would stay again.

IT was OK for our stay. Stairs need some work. No lights in the hot tub area which is not close to cabin. I personally would not stay here again. Owner was nice but should check condition of cabin. Could be beautiful but needs some work.

Overflowing with Rustic Charm!
This was a perfect place to stay for a few days in the drippy Pacific NW forest, just minutes from Mt. Hood, convenient retail and dining. Although we could hear highway noise, it was blended with the rushing waters of the Zig Zag River only yards away, We felt cozy and secluded.

Excellent weekend at an excellent cabin!
We had a quick weekend getaway at Laughing Bear and had a great time. It was exactly what us friends needed. The cabin was full of charm and had everything we needed except an aux cord to listen to music on the stereo. Brad was easy to communicate with and everything was great!

A True Steiner Cabin
If you want to stay in a real and unique Steiner Cabin then this is your place. If you don't want to try and figure out how to open every single door in the place, have the owner make you sign your life away, be surrounded by clutter and have to take a shower before you walk outside in the cold to the hot tub, then it might not be your place.

Cute Christmas Cabin
Loved the stay here! It was exactly as described. Decorated for Christmas and everything! Hot tub was great AND hot chocolate by the fire. Super cozy and close to so many winter activities! Wish check in had been a little earlier, it was a little difficult in the dark but overall an excellent experience!

A Perfect Forest Retreat
Laughing Bear was such a beautiful property in a beautiful setting. Quiet, calm, serene. We absolutely loved our stay and the cabin itself, and the owner was very easy to communicate with if we needed anything at all. The town is charming and tiny, and really it was just a great way to spend time with someone you love.

Hidden gem
I don't know which is better, the cool rustic cabin in the woods or the property it sits on. Lots and lots of room for several people, comfortable bed, TV, wifi, comfortable seating and everything you need in a kitchen is there. It has a hot tub, but since we didn't use it, can't really speak to its quality. The property the cabin sits on is pretty amazing. Everything, and I mean everything, is covered in a beautiful carpet of beautiful green moss. Coming from Montana, all that moss was very new to me. There also a beautiful, wide, crystal clear creek flowing just behind the property that you're going to want to check out.

Great little cabin
We enjoyed our stay at the Laughing Bear Cabin. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The hot tub had debris in it (which was easy to remove). In the evening, we enjoyed the fire pit but would recommend some kind of lighting to and from the cabin. Perhaps solar lighting or string lights? We had to use our phones as flashlights to make it to and from the cabin from the firepit which was doable but would be more convenient and safer to have lighting along the stone steps.

A trip back in time!
The Laughing Bear is an incredible example of the classic Steiner built cabins in the Mt.Hood area. There are so many unique touches to the place that really take you back in time, from the tree branch door handles to the bending single tree handrail going up the stairs. Lots of space for folks to stay and a beautiful backyard with a hot tub! Highly recommended!

Cabin laughing Bear
A wonderful place , cozy, homey and a lot of history and the natural beauty surrounding. Peaceful. I wish I could stay all summer.only 2 things steps down to fire pit are difficult to get down need a few more solar rocks and a railing for us older folks and possibly a couple of better baking pans and another saucepan. Other then that a fantastic cabin. I admire the workmanship and quality of the cabin. Thank you so much for letting us stay there and I look forward to another trip there in future.

Unique Steiner Cabin in Great Location
This is a quirky, cute 3 BR cabin. Lots of interesting touches such as door latch systems, carved and stuffed bears everywhere. Beautiful creek behind property, hot tub under the pines and a cool suspension bridge shortcut to town where groceries and restaurants are. This is not a good place for people with balance or mobility issues- the toilets are in confined spaces and 2 bedrooms are up uneven stairs. There is a late check in but owner allowed us to drop our stuff off early as place was unoccupied day before. If you like log cabins I highly recommend this!

The cabin was cute and fun i loved it! Five stars. Just a comment for tall people, the shower is a small stall and all the bed rooms very cramped. I kept knocking my knees on the bed and hitting the walls in the shower. Also the hot tub had so much chlorine we had to get out because it was burning our eyes and skin.
