The room we were in was great, a big room with a Queen bed and 2 singles as there were 3 of us, was roomy. Airconditioning was awesome as it was mid summer and very hot outside. Staff were friendly and helpful. Close to Trevi Fountain and lots of shops, restaurants & transport very convenient. Lovely stay. Thank you :)

Our stay was amazing Angelica the receptionist is the most helpful young lady that we have encountered thru out our journey of several countries to date. Convenient but Gross

Hotel staff was friendly and let us check in early. Location was convenient to metro and tourist attractions. Bed was comfortable and clean. Bathroom was in horrendous shape. Mold was everywhere, black and pink. The toilet leaked at the base if flushed more than once or twice in a few hours. Mold was by the entry door as well. Nothing felt clean. Room was clearly minimally taken care of. One bed was shoved halfway under a desk. Housekeeping never took out the trash in our time there. Subpar at best.

A small hotel with a very friendly staff (specially Mario). Very helpful into understanding how to move in Rome. Conviniently located. Very close to the metro Station and to one stop of one of those sightseeing bus tours.

Room was small but clean and the bed was comfortable. There was some mold on the shower tile and the shower drain was slow but otherwise very nice and met our needs. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was fantastic with easy access to shops, restaurants and metro. Would recommend.

Our bathroom had a sewer smell that was very unpleasant. The ventilation fan made the bathroom heat up quickly. As this was a separate bathroom (outside of the bedroom with a common walkway), it made it very hard to cool down or air out the smell. There was no mirror in the main bedroom, which required getting ready in the bathroom (which as noted above was not pleasant). Besides this, the staff were lovely and the hotel was in a great location.

BnB from Hell

Terrible terrible experience! It's a BnB and it's very much run down. No upkeep at all with scratches all over the walls, faucets that don't work and everything is just worn and old. Also, if you arrive after 9:30pm be prepared to wait on the street for at least 30 minutes while they come from somewhere else to open up for you. And you'll be charged 20 euros per hour for arrivals after 9:30pm. (their website says free late check-ins). Manager is very rude too. Just do yourself a favor and stay away from this place

Be aware they’ll charge for your free breakfast!!

Be careful! They are charging you for your free breakfast!!!! They gave us coupons for a free breakfast but didn’t mention we were not allowed to eat fruit. We took a fruit and on departure they charged us 5€ saying that there coupon is only available for 1 croissant and 1 coffee. It was dishonest considering the poor breakfast choice. There wasn’t even enough croissants for everyone! The bed were ok but the washroom smelled like humidity and wasn’t really clean. (Mole) Angelika was the nicest person to work there. They are lucky to have her, she was a great help for information.

Great location but no hot water

This was in a great location. The stuff was very kind and courteous. However, the room had almost no hot water. The shower had to run for a very long time before it would even get warm. The fan in the bathroom was so noisy. It sounded like an airplane was going to takeoff. I had made a reservation for a twin room, but when we checked in that reservation was not honored, and we had to be contempt with the double room.

Lovely staff

Convenient located in the heart of Rome, walking distance for lot of the attractions. Good costumer service , i booked one of the room with private bathroom but outside the room ( i did not realized that ) which i did not like it but it was my fault. I suggest a mirror , at least a bottle of water and couple of glasses in the room , maybe a coffee maker ?

Booked last minute for the last night of our trip before flying out of Rome. What a great choice to stay here. The owner Mario is worth the visit alone. He was so welcoming, funny, gave us some great recommendations. He treated us like we were family. He was also very helpful in sorting out some last minute private shuttles due to flight changes. Hotel is in a great location and has everything we needed. It was clean as well. No issues at all. We’ll definitely be back and recommend staying here. Ok for price.

The hotel is very well located. Youre walking distance from the important sights and their are so many good restauratns near by. Location-wise I highly recommend. But, you do get what you pay for. The room is not so clean, the walls are all stained and dirty, the shower head has mold and if you look close enough so does the shampoo holder. Also the bed is very small so if your partner is rather tall or large just keep that in mind.

Cons- I was very disappointed with the hotel overall, and felt that it is not worth the approximate $200 a night we paid. To begin with, our room was poorly lit...we barely had any light. The bathroom was old and dirty...hardly any shower pressure...and a lack of hot water. The worst part was that the air conditioner didn't seem to work properly. The hotel itself is old, poorly maintained and falling apart, it could use a paint job, and definitely some major renovations especially the bathrooms. Pros- The employees I did come across were kind and quite helpful. We met the manager as we checked out and he was so nice, very helpful and gave us some great tips about our travels. Additionally, the hotel is an amazing location as you are pretty much in walking distance to everything.

Had to check out of this hotel straight away, when I arrived the room smelt of cigarette smoke, they said it was a non smoking room but I could see neighbouring rooms and people were smoking out the windows. Our beds were camp beds. Worst of all and the reason I didn’t sleep the whole night was the air conditioning machine was ancient, only cooled the room by about 2 degrees and made a really loud rattling sound all night. I spoke to the staff about it, but they really didn’t care and wouldn’t refund any of my up front payment for our stay. We moved to a much nicer hotel. This was the worst hotel I stayed in Rome from my many trips.

The concierge service is great and very helpful. Location is great. However the room itself is quite disappointing. Tiny room that fit one double bed and two twins, leaving no privacy and room for walking. The washroom is not very clean. You can see mold everywhere. Sink stinks quite a lot. Overall bad living experience.

Fantastic stay, fantastic staff

We stayed at Basilio 55 Rome for 6 nights and have nothing but positive things to say about the hotel, staff, and location. Our room was clean and the bedding was comfortable. The heat and air conditioning worked well when we needed them (weird to need them both in the same trip). The staff are AMAZING. So helpful and responsible, both before the trip and during our stay. Mario had lots of good information about things to do and helped us book a tour and airport transport. The location of the hotel was perfect - close to the metro and lots of the sights we wanted to see, close to lots of good restaurants too. But it was also on a quiet street, so that was good. Our room was quiet and comfortable. We'd 100% recommend staying here and would stay again if we come back to Rome. Thanks Basilio 55 staff for a great visit!

A perfect stay we recomend!

A lovely hotel and staff with a perfect location! We could walk to trevi fountain, pantheon, spanish steps and colosseum. Metro 100 meters down the street and a bus just around the corner that took us to a great place with a big pool for a day swimming. Right by Barberini on via San Bacilio which was a very quiet and safe street. We slept well in a very good and large bed, very good air conditioning in the room and a nice man who cleaned our room every day. A very good cafe with good food right next to the hotel and a lovely restaurant with good stone-baked pizza 10 meters down the street. My 7 years old son and I had an absolutely fantastic week in Rome in the middle of July during a heat wave, because our stay at this hotel. Very good recommendations from lovely and great Veronica who worked there and helped us with everything, explained and gave us many good suggestions for things we could do for both adults and children. In addition to Mario and a very sweet young girl who also looked after us. We will definitely be back and highly recommend! The breakfast was also very good. Top 10! Thank you San Basilio 55!
