A nice but run-down hotel. We booked two adjacent rooms, in one of them the aircon did not work, in the other the kettle didn’t work. Nice warmed up pool and kids play room.

Rydges in Rotorua was a great choice for us. It was convenient, safe, and clean. Rydges Rotorua is close to Te Puia, and our room had a view of the geothermal valley. The staff was friendly. However, some staff members were not knowledgeable about the area or activities that Rotorua had to offer. They said to check the pamphlets against the wall and call the places directly. We were used to having a concierge at other places we stayed at (Hilton properties). We were still able to enjoy ourselves at Skyline Rotorua Adventures but were not able to get to the other places that we wanted because everything seemed to close early. We missed the mud bath (you need old swimsuits/clothes that you don't mind throwing away) at Hells Gate, the night geyser tour, and the river rafting. That just means that we will have to return and spend more time there.

Place needs serious case of updating. The room i was allocated was "fully refurbished" so I was told by the staff member allocating my room. If that was fully refurbished, I'd hate to see what the previous conditions were. There cleaning standards needs a serious look at, there were rings in the toilet around taps and the shower door... i have no words for... I even felt the hand soap was watered down because i used the toilet in the lobby... Certainly not worth $300 I paid for 1 night!

Great variety of breakfast options and service was wonderful. I was looking for a place with all the amenties, but should have check closing times. We did not get a chance to try the bar as I hoped as it closed as we were always returning from our daily activities. 930pm seems kind of early for the bar. Only got to use the pool once for the same reason. The game room had some fun options but equipment is broken and needs updating. Had to split our 1 of 3 evenings between game room, pool or bar since they closed around the same time. Otherwise, the stay was great.

the website stated that the room was looking out over the thernal area and the photo also showed an image of the room looking over the thermal area but the room supplied was on the opposite side of the building looking over the front carpark. These rooms were advertised as cheaper than what I paid for. I complained to the desk who said they couldnt do anything about it as the rooms were booked out. This followed by a coffee machine that didnt work and a TV that failed to cast to. We had to be moved to a different room
