After initial problems at reception regarding allocation of correct room and a total lack of key information (breakfast, Wi-fi etc). Receptionist was far from welcoming and showed no interest in us as guests. We were allocated the disabled room which was not what we expected from the online booking site. No Wi-fi working but we were given a booster which did improve things. Had a pleasant meal with excellent service and the manager offered explanations as to what had gone wrong. Tasty cooked breakfast but some items advertised were unavailable. Rather uninspiring selection of fresh fruit and preserves.
I checked in quite late, and the kitchen was closing. I caught the chef, and asked if it was too late for food, and he stayed on a bit longer to cook me some food! Can't say better than that.
The room was a single, and very clean. TV was a small wall mounted thing, but I had no interest in that.
Shower was great. Nice big shower head.
Overall very happy with my stay.
Stayed at the hotel/pub on business . Wi-fi is always important and it was virtually non existent all over the rooms .
Went down for breakfast at 9.05am and everything has been cleared away and no one around . Had to phone hotel to get someone to come down .
Wonderful hotel in the most beautiful village. Rooms were spotless and adorably furnished. My only (small) objection was
that the room was over-furnished for its tiny size. The large, plump, decorative pillows on the bed have no real use and take up an entire shelf of the wardrobe when removed from the bed. The bitty little desk, which is the only horizontal surface, was virtually completely covered by the coffee/ tea service stuff which could be easily compacted to leave room for a laptop. We used the bed as a desk. The wardrobe itself was lovely but could be much smaller. We put the luggage rack with our suitcase in the giant bathroom.
The bar was cozy and reasonably priced, the staff was welcoming, and the food was very good. The horses in the field next to it are friendly, also. Definitely recommend.

Liked: Staff & service
Room good except for a common lack in hotels of inadequate seating to view tv. Breakfast very good, bar service exceptional
Food presentation first class, taste beyond expectation.
A really nice place to stay in a lovely little village.

Under New Management
Seems this accommodation has had a change of management since we last stayed. I can't say anything was terrible, because it wasn't, it just didn't quite seem the same as before.....and breakfast was not as good - still cooked to order, but had to ask for missing items, food was barely warm, and the tables weren't laid properly. They weren't busy, so no excuse there. I had to actually go looking for someone to ask for breakfast - and when we left, no one in sight to ask if we'd enjoyed our stay and hopefully see you again soon like before. Maybe because now you have to pay on check in instead of at check out.
