"This is a beautiful traditional style French house of the region. It is a bit rustic in places, but absolutely packed with charm and character. The location is amazing - what you see in the photos is exactly how it is. The river is a 60-second walk away with easy access in and out of the water. "It was a very quiet location in a lovely village. The conversion was very well done and equipped. The only complaint was it got a little cold in the evenings, but the weather was cold. Would stay again."

"The photos do not do this property justice. Its a lovely large secluded house in the middle of sunflower fields. The owners live next door and were on hand for anything we might need, but we didn't see or hear them unless we needed to. They were the perfect hosts. It was a great location for our extended family getaway. The pool was perfect and provided good shade for the children. "We had a very relaxing stay and loved the gardens and surrounding area. The house is lovely - the bedroom separated from the house is very hot and was a little dirty but that’s partly because of the bear stone. Communication was very good leading up to the stay - a couple of minor delays with responses when at the property but overall good. We would definitely go back "

"A lovely break - the house was pretty much as described.The pool is great - the outside eating space is fantastic and there are 3 big fridges to keep everything cold. The living accommodation is great and it really is a lovely house. Tennis court is in good nick - but bring your own racquets and balls as the stuff there is not great.Thierry - who sorts out any issues was great and really responsive. A few small negatives - the oven is pretty useless and I see that previous reviews have mentioned this - a low cost solution that would make things easier for guests. Secondly - there are no restaurants within walking distance as in the description - but some good ones a short drive away. Finally - you have to pay to use the bikes in the photos - 20 euros a bike - just so you are aware these are not included. "

"Domaine de Grande Fort is a beautiful place to stay. Situated near Bergerac and overlooking the River Dordogne, our hosts Isabelle and Stephane made us very welcome. We had an excellent dinner and a fine breakfast the next morning. As we sat eating our meals outdoors looking down to the river and across to the beautiful gardens we were sorry that we were just staying for one night. We will return to this peaceful place."
