We recommend you visit and fall all in love with Mont-Felix and then please eturn as many guests do. We have uploaded our guest book photos for you to see reviews written down. Providing a large space for groups and families in a safe and sound environment. Mont-Felix is an old country house with a lot of character, in fact buckets of it. It is also beautiful inside and out. The architecture is second to none, in fact it is second to the city hall in our regional capital Tours as the same architect designed our Chateau. We have focused on things like super comfortable beds. Excellent linen and towels. Cleanliness and safety. A lovely heated pool and beautiful surrounds.
Spacious and lots of light, the three reception rooms with 4m high ceilings gives you a lofty feel. The ground floor is technically a mezzanine floor with elevated views of the park all around. You will feel like lord of the manner here and why not when you are here in the Chateaux region of France.
Layout:
The Chateau if basically laid over three floors and seven bedrooms, in five suites you will find a mixture of double beds, 2 cots and there is enough space to accommodate a combination of 13 adults and children plus 2 babies.
We think our Château is a holiday rental with a difference as it is warm and cosy. Nestled within its own forest, you will have this whole property for yourself in complete privacy for you and your group. No owners in sight! (But on the phone if you need anything at all and then there is our concierge, Annik, in the local village)
Location:
Situated very close only 3 miles to the beautiful and medieval Royal Citadel of Loches, the grounds and whole chateau is for hire.
Enjoy this Loire castle in all its splendor for yourselves exclusively.
We think it is a perfect rental for events, a family holiday or just relax with friends in the beautiful Loire Valley countryside. Maybe a cycling or walking holiday or just explore the region. It is all on your doorstep in Loches and the surrounding area.
If you have decided on visiting the Loire Valley and exploring all the Chateaux and vineyards, then why not treat yourself and family to your very own secluded and private Château to make as your base and call home?
The Mezzanine:
When you walk into Mont-Félix you will rise up some stairs into the grand staircase which is about 1.5 meters from ground level. This is the level of our ground floor. This was the fashion for chateaux in the 19th century and for good reason. It really gives you an air of elevation. You can look through windows and see everything from a perfect angle into the gardens. You will see when you arrive it is lovely.
You have a choice of 3 doors on this ground floor hall and a single helix cantilevered oak staircase going up to the rooms which we just discussed. In the middle of this hall, you are presented with two 3 meter high doors, probably open and you walk in to the central reception room.
Salons / Living Areas:
The central reception room is called salon de Chinois. You will notice why from its décor. It is one of 3 identically sized reception rooms on this mezzanine floor. With 4 meter high ceilings you will have the immediate feeling of volume and space. Walk straight and you will see floor to ceiling doors to a balcony / terrace ideal for alfresco dining or accessing the front gardens and outdoors. Turn feft and you are in Salon ‘Vue de Loches’, named this because you can see the town in the distance from this room. Both rooms are equipped with large sofas, comfy chairs and practical coffee tables. There is a small hi-fi for you to use and wifi available.
Banquet / Dining room:
Turn right as you enter salon Chinois and you are in the 3rd identically sized room, which is the dining room. Again sumptuously decorated with a family feel but still remaining from le époque with two huge wall cabinets for your dining pleasures. There is large dining room table to accommodate your needs.
Kitchen:
The kitchen is next to the dining room. It is not enormous but very functional. It can easily cater for all your needs. Well stocked with all the tools required by the chef or anyone who feels like to cook. There is also an ideal table to feed the kids and a nice view out of the window. The fridge and freezer is ample and there is a all the mod cons including a superb dishwasher. We are sure you will not be disappointed by the kitchen.
Bedrooms:
There are 5 principle suites in Château de Mont-Félix.
The first suite, known as Chambre George, has a double bed and a single bed in another room adjacent. It is perfect for a small family and there is space for a cot as well. The room has its own ensuite with a shower and spot lights in the ceiling. It is a charming suite with views to the rear and lovely peace and tranquility.
Next door is a twin, called Adele, has two very comfortable singles with our special 'tower bathroom'. We call it that because it is in a small tower. The bedroom has a table with chairs to relax and admire the Louis 16th drawers and marble fireplace. There is ample room in a large closet for clothes ect. The views are to the front of the property across the lawns. Beautiful. Also there is a tiny chapel in another tower just off this bedroom.
Next-door is 'Chambre Theodore'. Another great great uncle. (who helped build the vietnamese railway as an engineer and helped furnish a salon downstairs) this room is in the centre of the house. The ensuite has just had a small make over and is now refreshed. The bedroom is handsome due to its wood panelled ceiling and heavily oaked fireplace with a centrepiece mirror. There are 19th century framed tapestries and a king size solid oak bed. Commanding views across the lawn and on to the village it always pleases it's guests.
Still working clockwise there is 'Chambre Francoise'. Francoise is a charming room with an airy feel and a tower closet. With a super-king bed (one of the largest in the Château) and a beautiful marble fireplace and dainty decorative features this room does not fail to impress. Wake up in the morning and pull the curtains to an unobstructed view across the lawns to the village and to the fields on the horizon.
Finally through the last door on the stairs past the second stair case there is 'Chambre de Tournemire'. This suite compromises of two rooms and an ensuite bathroom. Perfect for a family of 4 or a couple and two sharing the twin bedroom. The room with the double also has a super king bed which you may get lost on. Lovely and quiet, views to a garden courtyard with apple trees and exotic conifers, this room has a lovely ambient feel to it which is light and airy.
Television Room:
We also have a cosy tv room with a small library off to the side on the ground floor. Great for family DVDs or catching up on British or French tv news, we also have sky tv albeit with limited channels! There is also a ground floor toilet near the front door. That sums up the ground floor. There is also a basement.
Basement:
Here you will find, bikes, table tennis, a industrial sized washing machine and a drier all for your use.
Parking:
Outdoors you will find ample place for parking. Easily accommodating up to 7 cars. There is a nice long drive to access Mont-Felix which is of course private.
Swimming pool:
Enjoy our outdoor pool. Heated and in good condition the pool will be appreciated by all on those sunny days. There is a changing room hut and plenty of towels and outdoor furniture to lounge and sunbath on.
Built with safety in mind for kids. There is a tasteful screen all around and a double action locking system to prevent children entering on their own.
Forest and outdoors
There is 10 acres for you to enjoy. Lots of paths and small routes to explore. It is really does offer a secluded and private experience.
I hope this has explained Chateau de Mont-Felix to you, I am sure I have missed a few things however we really do value our guest and I am available for questions at your disposal.
